Reds optioned RHP Curtis Partch to Triple-A Louisville.

With Sean Marshall returning to the Reds bullpen on Saturday, Partch become the odd man out. The 27-year-old appeared in three games for the Reds, firing 4 1/3 scoreless innings while posting a 3/3 K/BB ratio. He should get another opportunity with the big league club relatively soon.

Reds activated LHP Sean Marshall from the 15-day disabled list.

The 31-year-old southpaw was deemed good to go after appearing in two games on a minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A Louisville. He'll work in a setup capacity in front of interim closer Jonathan Broxton.

Phillies outfield prospect Carlos Tocci went 3-for-5 on Friday for Low-A Lakewood, bringing his season line up to .271/.271/.305.

It was Tocci's second consecutive three-hit night, and he has gone 11-for-19 over his past four games. Tocci has only hit two extra base hits in 2014 (both doubles), has yet to take a walk, and has struck out 14 times in 13 games. He is spending his second season in Lakewood, but he is the same age as many high school seniors.

David Robertson (groin) fared well in an extended spring training game on Saturday, allowing one single over 1 1/3 innings of work while striking out one.

He said after the outing that he's good to go, and remains on track to rejoin the Yankees bullpen as soon as he's first eligible on Tuesday. Shawn Kelley will be relegated back to a setup role upon his return.
Apr 19 - 12:01 PM

Pirates infield prospect Alen Hanson went 2-for-4 with a triple on Friday for Double-A Altoona.

Hanson is struggling in 2014, hitting just .220/.264/.320 with a double and two triples through his first 12 games. Hanson's prospect status has lost some of its luster after his .309/.381/.528 line for Low-A West Virginia in 2012, but he still appears to be the long-term second baseman for the Pirates.

Manny Macado (knee) played five innings in an extended spring training game on Saturday without any issues.

He's expected to do so again on Sunday and if he continues to progress could soon be cleared for a minor league rehab assignment. Fantasy owners should be expecting a return to the O's lineup in early May.
Apr 19 - 11:57 AM

Giants left-handed pitching prospect Adalberto Mejia struck out six in six innings on Friday in his return to the mound after being hit by a line drive earlier in the week.

Mejia showed no ill effects, allowing just four hits, one walk, and one run for Double-A Richmond. It appears that the Giants were being cautious with one of their top prospects. Mejia has a 3.75 ERA and 1.083 WHIP for the season with a 9.0 K/9, and could see time in San Francisco as soon as the end of the 2014 season.

Ryan Ludwick is expected miss a few games after fouling a ball off his big toe in Friday's victory over the Cubs.

X-Rays came back negative, but he's still very sore. Chris Heisey is getting the start in his place on Saturday and will see the bulk of the action while Ludwick is sidelined.
