Angels recalled INF Kaleb Cowart from Triple-A Salt Lake.

Cowart was hitting .303/.352/.454 with two home runs and three stolen bases in 39 games this season at the Triple-A level. But the infielder batted just .174/.255/.283 last year at the major league level and can remain ignored in standard fantasy formats.

Angels designated LHP Lucas Luetge for assignment.

The left-hander did not get an appearance in his three-day stay at the major league level. Luetge had a 2.33 ERA and 17 strikeouts in 19 1/3 innings at Triple-A before his callup. He could draw interest on waivers.

Cardinals acquired OF Jose Martinez from the Royals for cash considerations; optioned him to Triple-A Memphis.

Martinez was designated for assignment by Kansas City on May 18. He won the Pacific Coast League batting title in 2015, slashing .384/.461/.563 in 98 games, but the 27-year-old career minor leaguer hasn't been able to keep that pace this season. Martinez will operate as organizational outfield depth for St. Louis.

Jhonny Peralta (thumb) will shift his rehab assignment to Double-A Springfield this weekend.

Peralta is 3-for-10 through four rehab games with Low-A Peoria. He'll play one more game for Peoria on Wednesday night and then take Thursday off before reporting to Springfield on Friday. The veteran shortstop is on track to join the Cardinals next week. He probably won't play every day out of the gate as manager Mike Matheny tries to keep Aledmys Diaz active and producing at a high rate.

Travis d'Arnaud (shoulder) has reported to the Mets' spring training facilities in Florida.

And the plan calls for d'Arnaud to resume full baseball activities on Thursday, per assistant general manager John Ricco. The 27-year-old catcher has been on the disabled list since April 26 with a strained right rotator cuff and remains without an exact timetable for activation. If he can avoid setbacks, it's possible we'll see him return in late June. But that's really just a guess.
May 25 - 12:00 PM

Francisco Lindor is out of the Indians' starting lineup Wednesday afternoon against the White Sox.

It's a simple day of maintenance for Lindor. Jose Ramirez will draw the start at shortstop and bat third Wednesday versus White Sox left-hander Jose Quintana.
May 25 - 11:56 AM

Matt Carpenter is getting the day off Wednesday.

It's just a routine day of rest. Ruben Tejada is starting at third base and batting eighth for St. Louis in the afternoon game against Cubs right-hander Jake Arrieta. Kolten Wong will fill in at leadoff.
May 25 - 11:53 AM

Mike Moustakas will have his bruised knee examined by team doctors on Thursday in Kansas City.

Moustakas has been held out of the Royals' starting lineup since banging his knee against Alex Gordon on Sunday afternoon in Chicago. Gordon took the brunt of that collision -- he's already been placed on the disabled list with a broken scaphoid bone in his right wrist -- but Moustakas is now having serious problems too. Per beat writer Jeffrey Flanagan of MLB.com, the third baseman was able to take swings Wednesday but had issues doing any sort of lateral movement. He could soon join Gordon on the DL. Cheslor Cuthbert is starting at the hot corner Wednesday afternoon in Minnesota.
