Chris Tillman was hit hard once again in Saturday's loss to the White Sox, allowing two runs on 10 hits in his 4 2/3 innings of work.

Tillman recorded four strikeouts on the afternoon while walking only one. The right-hander continues to have a very disappointing season, registering a 5.57 ERA, 4.60 xFIP and 60/37 K/BB ratio over 84 innings. He'll attempt to turn things around on Friday when he takes on the Nationals.

Tommy Pham went 1-for-4 with a double and scored both of the Cardinals runs in Saturday's 2-1 victory over the visiting Padres.

Pham clubbed a leadoff double in the sixth inning and came around to score the Cardinals first run on a Matt Carpenter single. He then reached on an error in the eighth inning, swiped second base, advanced on a ground out and dashed home on a sacrifice fly. He should continue to see playing time in center field while Randall Grichuk is on the disabled list.

Carlos Martinez delivered another strong outing in a no-decision against the Padres on Saturday, surrendering just one run on eight hits over 6 2/3 innings.

Martinez walked a pair and struck out five on the afternoon. The only damage against him came on a solo home run off the bat of Yangervis Solarte in the fourth inning. The 23-year-old right-hander has been outstanding for the Cardinals, posting a 2.70 ERA, 3.18 xFIP and 105/41 K/BB ratio across 100 innings. He'll look to finish the first half strong when he takes on the Pirates in Pittsburgh on Thursday.
Jul 4 - 5:00 PM

Yangervis Solarte belted his fourth home run of the season in Saturday's loss to the Cardinals.

His solo blast off Cardinals starter Carlos Martinez in the fourth inning wound up being the extent of the Padres offense in the contest. He finished the day 1-for-4 and is now hitting .249/.298/.378 with four homers and 30 RBI on the season.
Jul 4 - 4:59 PM

Odrisamer Despaigned pitched well in a no-decision against the Cardinals on Saturday, allowing just one run on four hits over his five frames.

The right-hander punched out three and walked just one on the afternoon. He has done a serviceable job as a replacement for the injured Brandon Morrow, posting a 4.75 ERA and 46/17 K/BB ratio in 83 1/3 innings. He'll look to get back in the win column on Friday when he takes on the Rangers in Texas.

Carlos Frias (back) is questionable for Monday's start against the Phillies.

His MRI came back clean and he was able to throw a bullpen session on Saturday. Even against the Phillies, Frias wouldn't be an enticing fantasy option. Opponents have hit .311 against him and his K/9 is a disappointing 5.17.
Jul 4 - 4:56 PM

Clay Buchholz allowed one run in a complete-game victory over the Astros on Saturday.

It was his ninth career complete game and his first since last August 31. Buchholz went into the top of the ninth with a chance at seventh career shutout, but Luis Valbuena hit a two-out RBI single. He fanned eight and walked none in the victory. Buchholz has been on quite the roll of late, allowing just three earned runs combined over his last four starts. His ERA is down to 3.27 for the year.
Jul 4 - 4:51 PM

Collin McHugh yielded four runs (three earned) over 5 1/3 innings in a loss to the Red Sox on Saturday.

McHugh was coming off two strong outings, but he struggled in this one, allowing seven hits and three walks. He struck out just one of the 28 batters he faced. McHugh fell to 9-4 with the loss and owns a disappointing 4.54 ERA through 17 starts on the year. He'll get the Indians on the road next week.
