Allen Craig went 1-for-4 with a double on Friday in his first game with Boston.

Craig hit the double off of Yankee starter Chris Capuano. While his slash line on the season is a disappointing .237/.291/.346, it will be interesting to see if he can bounce back with a new club and some fresh surroundings. Prior to this season, Craig had not hit under .300 since his rookie season (2010)and was putting up slugging percentages of .450 and higher.

Carlos Beltran went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and an RBI single on Friday.

Beltran hit the fourth inning home run off of rookie Anthony Ranaudo, his thirteenth of the year. He then added an RBI single off Ranaudo in the sixth. He now has 39 RBI on the year. Beltran remains a frustrating fantasy player, because when he's in the lineup, he still has the ability to make an impact, slashing .244/.300/.442 on the season. If his body holds up in the second half, it's possible that he could do some legitimate damage, but that's a big "if."
Aug 1 - 11:46 PM

Danny Salazar allowed one earned run over six innings on Friday.

Salazar would have had to try very, very hard to lose this one, as the Indians spotted him an 11-1 lead by the end of the fifth inning. He struck out four and walked three while evening his record at 4-4. Salazar's ERA stood just south of six at the start of May, but since then he's managed to lower it to 4.45. He'll try to keep on this trend when he faces the Reds in his next start.

Adrian Gonzalez was removed from Friday's game against the Cubs after suffering an injury while sliding into home plate.

No word yet on the effected area or the potential severity of the injury. He was replaced by Scott Van Slyke at first base. The Dodgers should provide an update on his status shortly.
Aug 1 - 11:34 PM

Derek Jeter went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's loss to the Red Sox.

The solo shot came off of Junichi Tazawa in the eighth inning. Given Jeter's lack of power, it's quite possible this will be El Capitan's last home run against the Red Sox. He's victory lapping to a slash line of .276/.330/.333, but it's nice to see the occasional flash of his old, dynamic abilities.
Aug 1 - 11:33 PM

Jerome Williams allowed ten runs in four innings of work against the Indians on Friday.

Understatement of the Week: Jerome Williams' second start with the Rangers went much, much worse than his first one. The Indians were knocking him around from the start on Friday, with one run in the first, two in the third, two in the fourth and three in the fifth to go with thirteen hits. As if that weren't enough, Williams also walked three. His ERA now sits at 6.71 and it's tough to imagine Texas giving him many more opportunities.
Aug 1 - 11:25 PM

Khris Davis was removed from Friday's game against the Cardinals due to left calf tightness.

It's probably not the best time for Davis to suffer any type of injury, as the team just acquired Gerardo Parra who is a major challenger for playing time in the outfield. He finished the night 0-for-4 and is now slashing .251/.302/.472 on the year.
Aug 1 - 11:24 PM

Chris Capuano allowed four earned runs over six and a third innings in Friday's 4-3 loss to the Red Sox.

The Red Sox were knocking Capuano around in the early goings. In the third inning, Brock Holt tripled, Dustin Pedroia doubled and David Ortiz singled. All they were missing for the team cycle was the home run. It wasn't the best start, but Capuano will try to bounce back against Detroit in his next start. On a slightly more positive note than the four runs allowed, he struck out five without walking a batter.
