Brad Boxberger (lat, forearm) walked four of the eight batters he faced Wednesday in a rehab appearance with Triple-A Durham.

He recorded only two outs. This was supposed to be the final rehab outing for Boxberger, who's been on the disabled list all season due to lat and forearm injuries. Maybe he should make one or two more.

Dilson Herrera is in concussion protocol after a collision with a teammate Wednesday at Triple-A Louisville.

That doesn't necessarily mean he has a concussion, but the 23-year-old infielder will probably get some extended rest anyway. Herrera has batted just .248/.301/.383 in 230 plate appearances this season at the Triple-A level.

Pirates prospect Austin Meadows tweaked his right hamstring Wednesday in a game at Triple-A Indianapolis.

He is scheduled to undergo an MRI and will likely spend a bit of time on the Triple-A disabled list. Meadows, the ninth overall pick in the 2013 MLB Draft, has batted just .248/.313/.358 with four home runs in 64 games this season for Indy.

Andrew Moore will make his major league debut Thursday night against the Tigers.

Moore was called up to Seattle on Wednesday after registering a 2.72 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, and 77/17 K/BB ratio in 82 2/3 innings this season between Double-A Arkansas and Triple-A Tacoma. The 23-year-old right-hander has done nothing but impress since being selected in the second round of the 2015 MLB Draft out of Oregon State University, boasting a 2.59 ERA in 284 2/3 career minor league frames. If that steadiness translate to the majors, he should be able to stick around a while.

Dexter Fowler (quad) is out of the Cardinals' lineup Thursday afternoon against the Phillies.

Fowler departed Wednesday night's comeback win over the Phillies after experiencing tightness in his left quad in the top of the 10th inning. He's considered day-to-day for now. Tommy Pham will start in center field for the Cardinals in Thursday's series finale at Citizens Bank Park.

Jean Segura (ankle) went 1-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored in his first game back from the disabled list Wednesday night against the Tigers.

Segura missed less than three weeks with a high right ankle sprain, after initial estimates suggested he might be out for two months. The 27-year-old shortstop boasts a stellar .341/.393/.459 batting line with four home runs, 20 RBI, seven stolen bases, and 31 runs scored in 44 games this season. He signed a five-year, $70 million contract extension with Seattle while he was on the shelf.

Matt Joyce (back) went 0-for-4 in his return to the A's lineup Wednesday against the Astros.

Joyce was held out of action Tuesday due to a minor back injury, but he played all nine innings of Wednesday's loss to Houston. The veteran outfielder is slashing .227/.329/.407 with eight home runs and 28 RBI in 62 games this season for Oakland.

Justin Verlander spanned 5 2/3 innings on Wednesday night, allowing four hits, three runs and a walk in a no-decision against Seattle.

Verlander collected a season-high 11 strikeouts. He tormented Seattle early, taking a perfect game into the sixth inning. Jarrod Dyson ruined his bid for perfection with a bunt single that eventually sparked a three-run rally. Verlander handed the bullpen a one-run lead but Shane Greene promptly gave it up by allowing four runs in the seventh inning. Last year’s Cy Young runner-up will carry a six-start winless streak into his next outing Tuesday against the Royals.
