Andrelton Simmons (oblique) said he's "taking it slow" with swinging a bat.

Simmons was diagnosed with an oblique strain last week, but has already resumed most baseball activities. However, the Braves don't want to push it this early in spring training, as a setback could cost him multiple weeks. He's unlikely to play in the early Grapefruit League games.

Hyun-Jin Ryu (back) came out of Monday's bullpen session fine.

Ryu briefly halted his throwing program after tweaking a muscle in the middle of his back last week, but he's feeling better now. Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said the next step will likely be throwing batting practice. Cactus League games should soon follow.

Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said Tuesday that Jimmy Rollins will serve as the team's leadoff man.

Mattingly indicated last week that he wasn't completely committed to Rollins in the leadoff spot, but he said Tuesday that they "don't truly have anyone else who fits in that role." He's not wrong, but Rollins isn't the ideal leadoff hitter either, as he owns a .319 on-base percentage over the last three seasons. Still, it certainly enhances his fantasy value for 2015 if he sticks there.

Ryan Raburn (knee) will make his Cactus League debut Wednesday.

Raburn underwent arthroscopic surgery last September to repair a tear in his left lateral meniscus, but he entered spring training without any restrictions. After a big first season with the Indians in 2013, the veteran outfielder batted just 200/.250/.297 with four homers and 22 RBI across 74 games last season.

Blue Jays manager John Gibbons wouldn't commit to using Brett Cecil as his closer, according to John Lott of the National Post.

Gibbons was ambivalent about having Cecil close, saying, "He could do it. He might not. It might be somebody else." Aaron Sanchez is the other candidate to grab the role. Alternatively, Gibbons could play match-ups with both pitchers. Cecil, since becoming a full-time reliever in 2013, has a 2.76 ERA and a 146/50 K/BB ratio in 114 innings over the last two seasons.

Indians manager Terry Francona said Tuesday that Jason Kipnis (finger) will likely make his Cactus League debut this weekend.

The Indians are easing Kipnis into things after December surgery to repair tendon damage in his left ring finger. The 27-year-old is coming off a disappointing season in which he batted just .240/.310/.330 with six home runs and 41 RBI over 129 games, but there's serious rebound potential if he's feeling good.

Indians manager Terry Francona said that Brandon Moss (hip) has been "streaking" through his rehab.

Moss had hip surgery in October, so it sounds like he is making good progress. He ran the bases on Monday. Francona wouldn't say whether or not to expect Moss to be ready for Opening Day, but he should at least find himself in the spring lineup by mid-March.

Jarrod Parker (elbow) threw all of his pitches in a bullpen session on Tuesday.

Parker underwent Tommy John surgery for the second time in his career in March last year. The 26-year-old should be expected back around midseason. Parker owns a career 3.68 ERA with a 275/127 K/BB ratio in 384 innings.
