Yasmany Tomas had a monster day at the dish on Wednesday, blasting a pair of home runs and plating five as the Diamondbacks routed the Brewers 8-1 at Miller Park in Milwaukee.

Tomas capped off a five-run uprising off of Brewers starter Jimmy Nelson in the first inning with a three-run shot. He inflicted more damage in the fifth inning, with a two-run homer to chase Nelson from the ballgame. Tomas finished the night 2-for-5, raising his season slash to .262/.305/.477 to go with 17 homers and 42 RBI in what has been a breakout season offensively.

Archie Bradley struck out six over seven innings of one-run ball, defeating the Brewers to earn his fifth victory of the season.

The young right-hander struck out six, walked three and scattered four hits on the night. The only damage against him came on a sacrifice fly by Hernan Perez in his final inning of work. He'll look to carry the momentum over from this fine outing when he takes on the Nationals at home on Monday.

Seung Hwan Oh struck out one batter in a spotless ninth inning to earn his sixth save on Wednesday.

The 34-year-old rookie has been rock solid all season. He has fanned 69 batters with 14 walks and only 30 hits in 52 1/3 innings. He is now the Cardinals' closer and seems unlikely to relinquish that role anytime soon.

Hernan Perez went 1-for-2 and drove home the Brewers' lone run in Wednesday's loss to the Diamondbacks.

Perez brought home Jonathan Lucroy with a sacrifice fly in the seventh inning, pulling the Brewers to within seven runs at 8-1. He has been a pleasant surprise in the Brewers lineup this season, slashing .274/.301/.411 with five homers, 28 RBI and 14 stolen bases.

Mets manager Terry Collins said that Jeurys Familia will not be available for Thursday's game against the Rockies.

Familia has pitched in back-to-back games. Wednesday's was an outright disaster, as he entered in the ninth with the Mets holding a 4-3 lead over the Cardinals only to surrender a game-tying RBI double to Yadier Molina and a go-ahead RBI double to Kolten Wong. The Mets lost 5-4. Thursday's forced off-day should just be considered a breather for Familia, who had not blown a save opportunity prior to Wednesday's meltdown. Addison Reed will handle any save chance that might come the team's way on Thursday.

Jimmy Nelson was clobbered in Wednesday’s loss to the Diamondbacks, surrendering eight runs (six earned) on nine hits over 4 2/3 innings.

On the plus side, the right-hander did manage to punch out seven on the night while walking two. The Diamondbacks jumped on him right out of the gate in this one, pushing five runs across in the first inning, capped of by a three-run blast from Yasmany Tomas. Even with this rough outing, Nelson will still bring a respectable 3.71 ERA and 1.41 WHIP into Monday's start against the Padres in San Diego.

Aledmys Diaz went 2-for-5 with a run scored as the Cardinals came back to win on Wednesday night.

Diaz has been one of the biggest surprises in all of baseball this season. He is batting .312 with an .890 OPS as a rookie. He has 13 homers, 61 runs and 53 RBI. People have been expecting the 25-year-old shortstop's production to tail off but he has shown no signs of being a fluke.

Colby Rasmus clobbered a two-run homer on Wednesday, powering the Astros to a 4-1 victory over the visiting Yankees.

His towering drive off Masahiro Tanaka capped off a three-run uprising in the third inning and proved to be too big of a deficit for the Yankees to overcome. Rasmus finished the night 1-for-4 with a pair of strikeouts. He has been mired in an extreme slump lately, with his season slash falling to .227/.304/.380 to go along with 12 homers and 45 RBI.
