Yusmeiro Petit hurled two shutout frames for his first save Sunday in the Angels’ 4-2 win over the Red Sox.

He struck out one while throwing 19 of his 25 pitches for strikes. His only blemish was a one-out single to Andrew Benintendi in the ninth inning. The Angels have gone with a closer by committee in Bud Norris’ absence with Petit, Blake Parker and David Hernandez all handling save chances. We’re guessing Norris will maintain his ninth-inning role when he returns, which could happen as early as this week.

Cardinals optioned 1B Chad Huffman to Triple-A Memphis.

Huffman did a nice job during his time with the Cardinals, slashing .286/.333/.429 in only 14 at-bats. He'll return to Triple-A where he'll see everyday action until he's needed again.

Cardinals recalled 1B Luke Voit from Triple-A Memphis.

The 26-year-old had been mashing the ball at Triple-A, slashing .322/.406/.561 with 12 homers and 48 RBI in 70 games. He'll add a right-handed power option off the bench for the Cardinals.

Cardinals recalled RHP Mike Mayers from Triple-A Memphis.

The 25-year-old right-hander worked exclusively as a starter at Triple-A Memphis, compiling a 3.74 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 68/27 K/BB ratio across 77 innings in his 14 starts. He'll work in a long relief role for the Cardinals.
Jun 25 - 4:29 PM

Cardinals placed LHP Kevin Siegrist on the 10-day disabled list due to a cervical spine strain.

It's unclear at the moment just how much time the left-hander stands to miss. He has appeared in 31 games for the Cardinals this season, compiling a 4.28 ERA, 1.57 WHIP and 25/15 K/BB ratio across 27 1/3 innings.
Jun 25 - 4:29 PM

Cardinals placed OF Dexter Fowler on the 10-day disabled list with a right heel spur.

Fowler missed a couple of games due to a quadriceps injury before returning on Saturday, and apparently suffered the new injury in his first game back. Randal Grichuk was recalled from Triple-A and will see steady playing time while Fowler is sidelined.
Jun 25 - 4:26 PM

Aaron Hicks was forced to leave Sunday's game against the Rangers due to right oblique tightness.

Hicks is scheduled to undergo an MRI to determine the severity of the injury. This comes on the heels of the outfielder missing a few games due to a sore Achilles. It sounds like it could lead to a trip to the disabled list, but more will be known on Monday.
Jun 25 - 4:23 PM

Cardinals recalled OF Randal Grichuk from Triple-A Memphis.

He's right back in the middle of the Cardinals' lineup, hitting cleanup against Chad Kuhl and the Pirates on Sunday night. Grichuk had been on fire at Triple-A, sporting an eight-game hitting streak and homering in six of his last 10 games.
