Friday's release of BenJarvus Green-Ellis solidifies rookie Jeremy Hill as the "banger complement" to Giovani Bernard, per Bengals.com.

Keep in mind the expectations of Hill playing a significant role in the Bengals' backfield are coming directly and repeatedly from the team's own website. Cedric Peerman and Rex Burkhead will make the final 53 as depth pieces with special teams value. Hill's workload remains uncertain entering Week 1 against Baltimore, but he could become an every-week RB2/flex sooner rather than later on a Bengals team that wants to pound the rock.

Eagles waived RB Henry Josey.

The Eagles may want to stash Josey on their practice squad, but he is a candidate for waiver claims after averaging 6.6 YPC in the preseason and running 4.43 at the Combine. Josey is a dynamic if undersized change-of-pace prospect.

Bengals released RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis.

After Jeremy Hill's beastly preseason, the Bengals were able to comfortably sever ties with 29-year-old Green-Ellis, who was injured for much of August following an ineffective 2013 season. An aging plodder, Green-Ellis will probably resurface on a team in desperate need of a short-yardage back, but he has very little left to offer. The Bengals' tailback depth chart stands at Giovani Bernard, rookie Hill, Cedric Peerman, and Rex Burkhead as Week 1 approaches.

Titans waived CB Tommie Campbell.

The Titans continually gave Campbell chances to start under ex-DC Jerry Gray, but he never took hold. He gets his walking papers from new DC Ray Horton.

Bears waived RB Jordan Lynch.

The converted QB from NIU was buried on the depth chart all preseason. Perhaps the Bears were "hiding" Lynch to stash him on the practice squad.
Aug 29 - 1:59 PM

Buccaneers released OG Jamon Meredith.

The Bucs benched Meredith after an abysmal preseason opener, and will ostensibly hand their right guard job to either Oniel Cousins or Patrick Omameh. Logan Mankins is entrenched at left guard. Meredith is still only 28 with 24 career starts. He may catch on elsewhere as a reserve guard/tackle.

Profootballtalk.com reports the Bears are "very pleased" with Santonio Holmes and expect him to "have a real role" in Marc Trestman's offense.

Holmes appears ticketed for a committee at third receiver, sharing time with superior blocker Josh Morgan. Holmes finished August with a bang, reeling in a 32-yard touchdown in Thursday night's preseason finale. He's someone to monitor in deep leagues, but is merely a WR5/6 for fantasy purposes.

Randy Bullock has sewn up the Texans' kicking job.

The club waived competitor Chris Boswell on Friday afternoon. Bullock was a perfect 3-of-3 on field goals this preseason, and also produced four touchbacks on nine kickoff attempts. He's on the K1 streamer radar this season.
