Michael Bourn went 2-for-3 with three RBI in Friday's win over the Pirates.

Bourn doubled in a run in the fourth inning, then punched in two more with a single in the eighth to give his team a three-run lead and some much needed breathing room. They would ultimately win 5-2. While he does have five hits in his last 11 at-bats, Bourn is still hitting just .234/.305/.284 for the year. He only has nine extra-base hits on the year and has yet to connect for his first home run.

Clayton Kershaw wasn't involved in the decision after allowing one run in seven innings Friday against the Mets.

At least it wasn't a fourth straight loss. Kershaw just isn't getting any help from the Dodgers, and he might well miss out on the All-Star Game because of it. He's 5-6 with a 3.08 ERA and a 147/27 K/BB in 114 IP.
Jul 4 - 1:47 AM

Michael Cuddyer struck out as a pinch-hitter Friday against the Dodgers.

It was his first appearance since leaving Tuesday's game with a sore knee. It's possible he'll rejoin the starting lineup on Saturday.
Jul 4 - 1:44 AM

Starling Marte went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts in Friday's loss to the Indians.

The 0-for-4 jaunt snapped Marte's eight-game hitting streak. It's been a career best season to this point for the outfielder, who will set a personal best for homers when he hits his next one (he's currently at 13, same as the number he hit all of last year). He's hitting .284/.333/.465 through 299 at-bats in 2015.
Jul 4 - 1:43 AM

Andrew McCutchen went 1-for-2 with a two-run homer in Friday's loss to the Indians.

McCutchen homered with a runner on against Trevor Bauer in the fourth inning, the only runs that the Pirates would score in the game. After hitting just .194/.302/.333 in April, McCutchen has posted batting averages north of .300 and slugging percentages north of .500 in each of the last two months. Overall, he's slashing .296/.390/.493 with 10 homers and 49 RBI.
Jul 4 - 1:37 AM

Brandon Moss went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in Friday's win over the Pirates.

Moss launched his two-run shot off of Pirates starter Charlie Morton in the second inning. It was the first baseman's 14th bomb of the season and pushed his RBI total to 44. He might not hit for much average (currently .230), but his 14 homers put him on track to come close to--if not surpass--the career-high 30 he smacked in 2013. Moss is looking to post his fourth straight season with 20 or more long balls.
Jul 4 - 1:31 AM

Trevor Bauer locked down the Pirates on Friday, hurling 6 1/3 innings of two-run ball to earn his seventh win of the season.

Bauer could have conceivably pitched deeper into the game were it not for a rain delay, which came in the seventh inning. At that point, the right-hander had only thrown 74 pitches. He would not return to the contest when festivities resumed. Bauer struck out three and walked one, with both runs against him coming home via a homer by Andrew McCutchen. Bauer now holds a 3.88 ERA and 1.25 WHIP and will look to improve to 8-5 in a home showdown with the Astros next time he takes the ball.
Jul 4 - 1:29 AM

Charlie Morton provided a quality start in Friday's loss to the Indians, yielding three runs on four hits over six innings.

Morton struck out three and walked three in the outing. Runs scored in the second and fourth innings, when Morton allowed a two-run homer to Brandon Moss and an RBI double to Michael Bourne, respectively. The loss dropped him to 6-2 on the season. In addition to the solid record, Morton holds a 4.30 ERA and 1.28 WHIP. Up next on the docket, a home start against the Padres.
