Robinson Cano (illness) could return to the Mariners lineup on Saturday.

Cano has missed the last two games with what the Mariners now believe is an ear infection. A few days off could be a blessing in disguise for the slumping second baseman who is hitting .251/.295/.332 with just one home run and 13 RBI on the season.

Odubel Herrera is not in the Phillies starting lineup on Saturday against the Rockies.

Ben Revere is getting the start in center field with Cody Asche and Jeff Francoeur starting in the corners. The 23-year-old is hitting just .243/.280/.347 with one homer and 14 RBI in 173 at-bats on the year, and could concede more playing time to Revere unless he starts turning it up offensively.
May 30 - 11:10 AM

Eddie Butler will start for the Rockies against the Phillies on Saturday afternoon.

Jorge De La Rosa was scratched from his scheduled start with a cut on his left middle finger, so Butler will move up a day to take his place. He owns a 4.60 ERA, 1.88 WHIP and teroublesome 23/27 K/BB ratio over 43 innings on the year.
May 30 - 11:06 AM

Brewers manager Craig Counsell said Saturday that Jonathan Broxton is no longer the team's primary setup man.

This comes on the heels of Broxton allowing a game-changing home run to Nick Ahmed that broke a 4-4 tie in the eighth inning on Friday. Jeremy Jeffress is the primary beneficiary of this switch, as he'll now do most of his work in the eighth inning and would be called upon should anything happen to closer Francisco Rodriguez.

Jorge De La Rosa was scratched from his scheduled start against the Phillies on Saturday.

The veteran left-hander is still dealing with a cut on the middle finger of his pitching hand. Once again, Eddie Butler will fill in for him on Saturday and doesn't make for an attractive streaming option, even against the offensively-challenged Phillies.
May 30 - 11:02 AM

Indians manager Terry Francona said Friday that Yan Gomes will catch on Saturday and Sunday.

It will be the first time this season that the backstop has caught consecutive games as he has been eased back into action in his return from the disabled list. The 27-year-old is struggling at the dish, hitting just .133/.156/.167 with one RBI and a 9/1 K/BB ratio in his first eight games.
May 30 - 10:02 AM

Jose Abreu (finger) is unlikely to play on Saturday.

The 28-year-old slugger was removed from Friday's game due to irritation in his right index finger and was sent for X-rays. Abreu initially sustained the injury two weeks ago during a game in Chicago and it has continued to bother him off and on since. Be sure to check the White Sox lineup before game time, but it would be surprising to see Abreu in there on Saturday.

Miguel Castro was removed from Friday's game at Triple-A Buffalo with a right hand injury.

The Blue Jays aren't quite sure what the injury is specifically, so he'll visit a hand specialist to undergo further tests. In five starts with Triple-A Buffalo since his demotion, Castro has registered a 3.09 ERA, 1.97 WHIP and 15/8 K/BB ratio.
