Victor Arano was charged two earned runs on two hits in the top of the ninth inning Monday versus the Cardinals.

Aranao got the first save chance for the Phillies since Hector Neris' demotion to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Monday afternoon and he couldn't seal the deal, though he did strike out three batters. On that third strikeout, the ball went to the backstop, allowing Yadier Molina to score from third base. It went into the book as a wild pitch. Adam Morgan then entered the game and let up a game-tying RBI single to Kolten Wong. Seranthony Dominguez seems to be the best bet for saves in the post-Neris era.

Jason Kipnis went 3-for-4 with a homer and two RBI against the White Sox in Monday's victory.

Kipnis isn't exactly hot, but he has hit four of his five homers on the year in his last 18 games. It's a start anyway. Second base remains an intriguing upgrade possibility for the Indians in advance of the trade deadline.

Roberto Perez doubled twice and knocked in two runs Monday versus the White Sox.

That's enough to raise his average from .136 to .155. He entered the night with just four RBI in 81 at-bats this year. The Indians would love to see Perez play better, but Yan Gomes is going to remain their primary catcher.

Kenta Maeda will indeed start the first game of Tuesday's day-night doubleheader against the Cubs.

Rich Hill will take the mound in the nightcap for the Dodgers. Maeda warmed up several times during the rain and power outage delays at Wrigley Field on Monday, so it'll be interesting to see how that effects him heading into Tuesday's start.

Yadier Molina went 3-for-4 with a homer, a walk, and two runs scored Monday in the Cardinals' loss to the Phillies.

Starting his 1,757th career game for the Cardinals -- the new all-time record for most games caught for a single team -- Molina hit a solo homer in the top of the seventh, a single in the ninth, and a double in the 10th. The home run was his first since he suffered a traumatic hematoma in his groin when he was clipped by a foul tip on May 5. The veteran backstop is slashing .273/.311/.448 with seven home runs and 25 RBI in 42 games this season.

Yoan Moncada went 2-for-3 with a walk as the White Sox's leadoff hitter Monday against the Indians.

That'll push his ERA back up over .300. Moncada was hitting .269/.358/.492 on this day a month ago, but his OPS is down from .830 to .703 since then. The White Sox will remain patient, and there's good reason for fantasy owners to hold tight as well.

Odubel Herrera hit a three-run homer in the Phillies' defeat of the Cardinals on Monday.

Herrera took Miles Mikolas deep after the first two batters reached in the bottom of the first inning. He added a single in the bottom of the fifth, finishing the night 2-for-5 with three RBI and one run scored. The 26-year-old outfielder fell into a slump toward the end of May, but he has picked it up again in a big way. Herrera is now slashing .293/.351/.464 with 10 home runs and 39 RBI in 68 games this season.
Jun 18 - 11:10 PM

Nick Pivetta struck out 13 batters over 7 1/3 innings Monday in a no-decision versus the Cardinals.

Philadelphia wound up winning the game in the bottom of the 10th, on walk-off two-run double by Aaron Altherr. Pivetta was sharp, yielding only four hits -- two of them solo homers -- while setting a new career-high in strikeouts. He's sporting a 4.08 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, and 94/22 K/BB ratio in 79 1/3 innings (15 starts) this season. Up next is a road start against the division-rival Nationals.
