Johnny Cueto was lit up by his former team for six runs over five innings but escaped with a no-decision in Monday's 9-6 win over the Reds.

Cueto cruised through the first two frames but was then ambushed for six runs in the third, giving up six hits and a couple walks along the way. The righty pitched well other than the one very bad inning and finished the night with eight strikeouts. He's whiffed 41 over 42 1/3 frames on the year. Cueto faces the Rockies at home this weekend.

Santiago Casilla converted his fifth save of the season with a perfect ninth inning in Monday's win over the Reds.

Protecting a three-run lead, Casilla quickly disposed of the Reds on 11 pitches with two punchouts and a groundout. While he's blown two of seven save chances, Casilla also boasts a 1.86 ERA, 0.83 WHIP and 12/2 K/BB ratio over 9 2/3 innings. With Sergio Romo (elbow) hurt and Hunter Strickland struggling, Casilla's closer job is very safe.

Matt Szczur will undergo an MRI on his right hamstring on Tuesday.

Szczur was forced to exit Monday's game with a tight hamstring. He's hopeful it's not serious, but a stint on the disabled list could be in his future.

Brewers designated LHP Sam Freeman for assignment.

The move clears a spot for Junior Guerra, who will be called up to start Tuesday against the Angels. Freeman was acquired from the Rangers last month and was tagged for 11 runs on 13 hits and nine walks over just 7 2/3 innings of work.

Brandon Finnegan yielded three runs over six innings in Monday's loss to the Giants.

Finnegan was in line for his second victory of the season when he exited, but the Reds bullpen yielded six runs over the next two innings after he left. The southpaw issued three walks on the night and has walked 18 over 34 frames on the year. However, Finnegan also has 27 strikeouts and just 26 hits allowed. He'll get the Brewers next.

Brandon Crawford's three-run homer in the seventh inning propelled the Giants to a comeback win over the Reds on Monday.

The Reds tagged Johnny Cueto for six runs in the third inning, but then the Big Dread Machine known as the Reds bullpen went to work. JC Ramirez and Drew Hayes were lit up for six runs over their two innings, highlighted by Crawford's bomb. The Giants shortstop also tacked on an RBI single in the ninth. Crawford is hitting .253/.343/.414 with three homers and 10 RBI.

Joey Votto launched a three-run homer in Monday's loss to the Giants.

Votto took former teammate Johnny Cueto deep in the middle of a six-run third inning for the Reds before the club watched their horrid bullpen inevitably cough up the lead. It was the first baseman's lone hit on the night in four trips to the plate, but he'll take it given his struggles so far this season.
May 2 - 11:00 PM

Bartolo Colon held the feeble Braves bats at bay Monday, whiffing seven over eight shutout frames in a 4-1 victory.

Colon gave up seven hits, but five of them were singles and he didn't issue any walks. He had thrown only 99 pitches through his eight innings, but Mets manager Terry Collins elected to pull Colon and get closer Jeurys Familia some work. Slated to turn 43 later this month, Colon sports a 2.56 ERA and 28/3 K/BB ratio over 31 2/3 frames. He'll take on the Padres in San Diego this weekend.
