According to Jon Heyman of MLB Network, the cost to acquire Junior Guerra from the Brewers is higher than what the Marlins gave up for Andrew Cashner.

Given how well the 31-year-old has pitched this year, and the fact that he's under team control for another five years, it's certainly understandable. It looks likely that Guerra will remain in Milwaukee through the trade deadline.

Mark Feinsand of the New York Daily News reports theta a "very real chance" that the White Sox trade closer David Robertson.

He notes the Rangers, Nationals and Indians as three clubs in need of bullpen help who could be interested. If he is moved, Nate Jones could move into the closer's role, making him a nice stash for those speculating on saves.

Daniel Murphy was pulled from Friday's game against the Giants when his leg tightneed up on him in the sixth inning.

It sounds like it's a minor issue and the club called his early exit precautionary. It wouldn't be terribly surprising to see him get an extra day of rest on Saturday however.
Jul 30 - 8:32 AM

Kenta Maeda allowed two runs in 6 1/3 innings on Friday but had to settle for a no-decision in the Dodgers' 9-7 victory over the Diamondbacks.

He struck out five batters without issuing any free passes. For the season he has a 3.23 ERA and has fanned exactly one batter per inning. With Clayton Kershaw hurting, the Dodgers are relying heavily on Maeda to lead them into the playoffs.

Zack Godley proved mortal on Friday, allowing three runs in six innings of work in Friday's no-decision effort.

He held the Dodgers to four base hits and two walks. He struck out four in the quality start. He now has an unattractive 5.63 ERA and 1.50 WHIP. Next on tap is a tough matchup versus the Nationals.
Jul 30 - 3:11 AM

Kenley Jansen got the last four outs of the game without allowing any base-runners to earn his 31st save of the season.

He is as lights-out solid as closers can get. He has a 1.37 ERA with 59 strikeouts and only seven walks in 46 innings. His 31 saves rank third in the majors. Despite those great numbers he has blown five saves this year.
Jul 30 - 3:04 AM

Corey Seager doubled twice and finished 3-for-5 with a run and an RBI on Friday.

His RBI double in the eighth inning provided the Dodgers an insurance run. The 22-year-old phenom is already one of the best hitters in baseball. He is batting .307/.361/.523 with 17 homers and 66 runs scored. His 47 RBI leave room for improvement but the blame for that falls on his teammates. The only thing he doesn't do well is steal bases, having swiped only one all year.
Jul 30 - 2:57 AM

Paul Goldschmidt went 3-for-4 while driving in three runs and scoring another on Friday.

In his second at-bat of the seventh inning he doubled with the bases loaded as the Diamondbacks put up seven runs in the frame. Goldschmidt is unlikely to match his MVP-caliber stats from a year ago, but he is having another highly productive season in under-the-radar fashion. He is slashing .303/.418/.508 with 17 home runs, 62 runs, 68 RBI and 14 stolen bases.
