Yonder Alonso hit a two-run homer in the Indians' defeat of the Orioles on Monday.

The second-inning dinger off Kevin Gausman gave Cleveland all the offense it would need on a night of dominant pitching by Carlos Carrasco, Andrew Miller, and Cody Allen. Alonso now has five home runs in 20 games this season, though he's sporting a somewhat underwhelming .225/.295/.465 overall batting line.

Anthony Santander finished 0-for-3 in the Orioles' loss to the Indians on Monday.

Santander is now batting just .153/.194/.254 in 18 games this season for Baltimore. He has been serving as the Orioles' primary right fielder for the last couple of weeks, but that might need to change.
Apr 23 - 9:37 PM

Kevin Gausman allowed two earned runs over eight innings Monday in a tough-luck loss to the Indians.

Gausman pitched well, yielding just four hits and one walk while striking out seven, but the Orioles' hitters couldn't solve opposing starter Carlos Carrasco. Gausman now stands 1-2 on the year with a 4.66 ERA, 1.31 WHIP, and 26/7 K/BB ratio in 29 innings. He'll take on the Tigers next time out.
Apr 23 - 9:35 PM

Carlos Carrasco worked 7 1/3 innings of one-run ball Monday in a win over the Orioles.

Carrasco scattered six hits and two walks while striking out seven. He's now 4-0 on the year with a brilliant 2.31 ERA, 0.86 WHIP, and 28/6 K/BB ratio in 35 innings. Up next is a start at home against the Mariners.
Apr 23 - 9:32 PM

Avisail Garcia exited Monday's game against the Mariners with a right hamstring strain.

Garcia had to be helped off the field, and the fact that the White Sox are already calling the injury a strain isn't a good sign. He'll be re-evaluated Tuesday, but a trip to the disabled list seems likely. The outfielder had an RBI single in one of his two plate appearances before exiting.

Blue Jays recalled LHP Tim Mayza from Triple-A Buffalo.

Mayza has made one scoreless relief appearance with the big club this season. He'll be up while John Axford is on the bereavement list.
Apr 23 - 8:25 PM

Blue Jays placed RHP John Axford on the bereavement list.

Axford will be away from the team for the next 3-7 games. Tim Mayza has replaced him in the bullpen.
Apr 23 - 8:24 PM

Nationals manager Dave Martinez revealed Monday that Brian Goodwin's left wrist was still sore after he took swings at the team's spring training complex.

Goodwin initially hurt his wrist nearly two weeks ago and was finally placed on the disabled list a week ago. Obviously, the wrist continues to heal more slowly than anticipated. Adam Eaton (ankle) is looking like a safe bet to be activated before Goodwin.
