Justin Ruggiano will bat fifth and play right field Tuesday against the Cubs.

Ruggiano is in the middle of the order with left-hander Jon Lester on the hill for Chicago. The 35-year-old owns an .861 OPS against southpaws in his career and could make for an appealing play in DFS formats.

Rockies optioned RHP Jeff Hoffman to Triple-A Albuquerque.

Hoffman was excellent in a spot-start against the Phillies on Monday, allowing just one run over seven innings with seven strikeouts. However, there's not a spot available in the regular rotation right now. He'll get another chance soon enough.
May 23 - 3:32 PM

Rockies activated SS Trevor Story from the 10-day disabled list.

As indicated Rockies manager Bud Black, Story will return to finish out the series in Philadelphia. The 24-year-old was batting just .180/.289/.396 through 33 games prior to landing on the disabled list with a left shoulder strain earlier this month. The Rockies and fantasy owners will have to hope that the time away did him some good.

Gary Sanchez is out of the Yankees' lineup Tuesday against the Royals.

It sounds like a routine day off for the young backstop. Austin Romine will start behind the dish and catch left-hander Jordan Montgomery.
May 23 - 3:26 PM

Brett Gardner is not in Tuesday's lineup against the Royals.

Gardner hit another homer on Monday, but he'll take a seat Tuesday against left-hander Danny Duffy. Aaron Hicks will start in left field and bat second.

Mets recalled LHP Josh Smoker from Triple-A Las Vegas.

Smoker will rejoin the Mets' bullpen with Hansel Robles headed to the minors. The southpaw owns a 7.88 ERA and 20/10 K/BB ratio over 16 innings with the big club this season.
May 23 - 3:17 PM

Mets optioned RHP Hansel Robles to Triple-A Las Vegas.

It wasn't too long ago that Robles looked like one of the club's better relief arms, but he has been rocked for 12 runs on 10 hits (including four home runs) and four walks in his last three appearances. His ERA now stands at 6.23 for the year. Josh Smoker will take his place in the bullpen.
May 23 - 3:15 PM

Michael Saunders is out of Tuesday's lineup against the Rockies.

Saunders is hitless over his last four games and owns an ugly .227/.273/.383 batting line through 41 games on the year. Phillies manager Pete Mackanin is giving Ty Kelly a shot in left field on Monday, with Aaron Altherr starting in right field.
