Jack Flaherty delivered another terrific start in Sunday's victory over the Cubs, scattering two hits and three walks over five shutout innings.

The right-hander racked up seven strikeouts on the night. The only thing that he didn't do well in this one, was be efficient with his pitches, needing 97 pitches (52 strikes) to get through his five frames. Through 10 starts with the Cardinals, he's now 4-2 with an outstanding 2.66 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 55/14 K/BB ratio across 50 2/3 innings. He'll look to keep it rolling in a difficult matchup against the Brewers in Milwaukee on Friday.

Albert Almora went 2-for-4 as the Cubs were shut out by the Cardinals on Sunday night in St. Louis.

Both of Almora's hits in the game were singles. In fact, as a team the Cubs tallied just four total hits, all of which were singles. The speedy center fielder is enjoying a terrific season at the dish, slashing .325/.372/.440 with a pair of homers and 19 RBI in 219 plate appearances.

Jose Quintana pitched decently in a losing effort against the Cardinals on Sunday night, allowing two runs on four hits over his five-plus innings of work.

The veteran southpaw walked two and struck out three on the night. He traded zeroes with Jack Flaherty through the first five innings, but allowed a pair of singles to start the sixth inning before departing. Anthony Bass then came on an allowed both of the inherited runners to score. Quintana, now 6-5 on the season, owns a 4.06 ERA and 1.33 WHIP through 75 1/3 innings on the year. He'll do battle against the Reds his next time out in Cincinnati on Friday.

Brad Boxberger was hammered for four earned runs, four hits and a walk while retiring just two batters in a loss Sunday against the Mets.

Boxberger entered the game with a 3-1 lead but he served up homers to Brandon Nimmo and Asdrubal Cabrera back-to-back in the ninth inning to turn a home win into a loss. He slipped to 1-3, blowing his third save in 19 opportunities. His ERA has increased from 1.77 to 3.91, so he could be skating on a little bit of thin ice here. Boxberger has coughed up seven earned runs in just 5 1/3 June innings.
Jun 17 - 11:15 PM

Clay Buchholz allowed just one earned run, four hits and two walks with three strikeouts over 5 2/3 innings in a no-decision against the Mets on Sunday.

Buchholz departed with the lead, but Brad Boxberger ended up coughing up the save chance in the top of the ninth inning to turn a victory in a loss for the home team. Buchholz threw first-pitch strikes to 14 of the 22 batters he faced, lowering his ERA to 2.94 despite going without a win for the third straight start. He'll look to get back into the win column next Saturday in Pittsburgh opposite Trevor Williams.
Jun 17 - 11:04 PM

Asdrubal Cabrera went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a walk in Sunday's road win against the Diamondbacks.

The month of June has been a nightmare for Cabrera, as he entered the day 5-for-55 (.091) with just one double, a home run and two RBI across his past 15 outings since May 29. As a result his average has dropped from a robust .315 to .270. Hopefully Sunday's multi-hit game and homer will spur him on to a hot streak. Of course, the team returns home this week and he is hitting just .248 with 14 RBI and 29 strikeouts at Citi Field this season.
Jun 17 - 11:01 PM

Brandon Nimmo went 3-for-5 with a double, a two-run home run and two runs scored in Sunday's victory in Arizona.

Nimmo has back-to-back multi-hit games, and he has cracked four homers with six RBI in the month of June, with eight of his season's 10 homers coming in the past 24 games dating back to May 23. Even when Yoenis Cespedes (quadriceps) is ready to return from his long-term absence, Nimmo will continue playing regularly.
Jun 17 - 10:55 PM

Robert Gsellman worked a perfect ninth inning in Sunday's win in Arizona, nailing down his third save of the season.

Meanwhile, Jeurys Familia (shoulder) made his return from the disabled list in the eighth inning and was shaky, allowing a run, three hits and a walk in his inning of work. Gsellman only got the save chance after the Mets staged a comeback in the ninth, but there's a chance he could see more chances until Familia proves his health and effectiveness. It's a situation worth monitoring in fantasy leagues.
