Steve Cishek blew the save on Monday against the Mets, allowing three runs in the ninth inning, resulting in a Marlins loss.

Cishek allowed a leadoff double to Juan Lagares, walked Lucas Duda, then served up a one-out, three-run home run to Daniel Murphy to turn a 1-0 lead into a 3-1 deficit. Cishek has only faced three save situations so far this season, but he has converted only one of them and now owns an unsightly 11.37 ERA with a 6/3 K/BB ratio in 6 1/3 innings. The rough start is concerning, but it's worth waiting a little while longer before pressing the panic button.

Jarred Cosart was terrific in Monday's start against the Mets, tossing eight shutout innings, but got a no-decision in the Marlins' loss.

Cosart and opposing starter Dillon Gee were trading zeroes for nearly eight innings. If Steve Cishek hadn't blown the save, Cosart would have deservedly earned a win for his outing. He limited the Mets to just two hits while walking three and striking out two. Despite a mediocre 13/6 K/BB ratio in 25 1/3 innings, Cosart has a solid 2.49 ERA and he'll stand a decent chance of lowering it further as his next start comes at home versus the Phillies.

Dillon Gee allowed just one run, needing only 70 pitches to get through 7 2/3 innings in a no-decision versus the Marlins on Monday.

Gee had shut the Marlins out through seven, but got into two-out trouble in the eighth. Justin Bour, Gee Gordon, and Martin Prado hit consecutive singles to plate the game's first run to chase Gee from the game. The Mets came back in the next frame to take Gee out of the running for the loss. Overall, the right-hander gave up six hits, walked none, and struck out three. Gee has been solid over his last two starts, lowering his ERA to 4.26. He'll look to keep it going over the weekend at home against the Nationals next.

Freddie Freeman was ejected from Monday's game versus the Nationals.

Freeman tossed his helmet and might have said something to home plate umpire Bill Welke after striking out swinging to end the fifth inning. Welke didn't immediate eject Freeman, but it was Chris Johnson taking Freeman's spot at first base to start the sixth.

Yunel Escobar left Monday's game against the Braves with an apparent left hand injury.

He appeared to be spiked by Andrelton Simmons as Simmons collided with him at third base. The Nationals should provide an update on Escobar's status before long.

Giants manager Bruce Bochy said Monday that Hunter Pence (forearm) is about a week away from taking batting practice.

Bochy conceded that it was an educated guess on his part, but it offers a rough timeline. Pence's recovery from a fractured forearm is coming alone a little more slowly than expected, as the Giants had hoped he'd be ready to go at the beginning of May. It's now looking like the best-case scenario for his return will be mid-May.
Apr 27 - 8:40 PM

Pablo Sandoval left Monday's game versus the Blue Jays with neck soreness.

It's not clear how Sandoval suffered the injury, but the Red Sox should provide more on his status after the game. Sandoval had a two-RBI single and a solo homer before exiting.

Dodgers recalled LHP Adam Liberatore from Triple-A Oklahoma City.

He's taking Brandon McCarthy's (elbow) spot on the roster. Liberatore tossed 4 1/3 scoreless innings of relief in his five-day stay in the majors earlier this month.
