Dan Straily was crushed in Tuesday's loss to the Rangers, surrendering six runs on 10 hits over his four innings.

Straily walked one and struck out two in the outing. He had difficulty keeping the ball in the yard on Tuesday, serving up a pair of solo homers to Joey Gallo and another to Mike Napoli. He'll look to get back on track on Sunday against the Reds.

Edwin Jackson was charged with seven runs – three earned – over five innings of work and served up three homers in Tuesday’s loss to the Brewers.

A throwing error by Ryan Zimmerman in the fourth inning helped open the door to four runs, which makes Jackson’s ERA look not quite as bad but certainly doesn’t change the fact that he didn’t pitch well. He did hold his own in his first outing with the Nationals and might get another start, but they’ll boot him from the rotation as soon as they fine a replacement.

Manny Pina went 3-for-4 with a solo homer on Tuesday versus the Nationals.

Eric Thames took Edwin Jackson deep to lead off the fifth inning, and Pina followed with a longball of his own. The catcher also added a couple singles and a walk, reaching base four times on the night. Pina will continue to receive an uptick in playing time over the next few weeks while Stephen Vogt (knee) is out.

Eric Thames ripped a solo homer Tuesday versus the Nationals.

It was a long blast in the fourth inning that was the first of back-to-back shots, as Manny Pina followed Thames with a dinger of his own. The longball was Thames' first since he had a two-homer game on Independence Day. He has 24 on the season.

Travis Shaw belted a three-run homer and reached base four times in Tuesday's win over the Nationals.

Shaw's blast came off of Edwin Jackson in the fourth inning and was one of three longballs that Jackson served up on the night. The Brewers' third baseman also had a single and drew a pair of walks. Shaw has been incredible in his first season in Milwaukee, as he's on pace for 37 homers, 116 RBI, 92 runs and 11 stolen bases.
Jul 25 - 10:50 PM

Matt Wieters went hitless in four plate appearances Tuesday versus the Brewers and is now batting .246/.293/.380 on the season.

The low on-base percentage from Wieters is expected this point, but he's been a disappointment in the power department. The veteran backstop slugged four dingers in April but has just three since, and none so far in July.

Tim Beckham blasted a three-run homer on Tuesday, powering the Orioles to a 5-4 victory over the Orioles.

His three-run shot capped off a five-run uprising in the second inning off of O's starter Wade Miley. While it was his lone hit in four at-bats on the afternoon, it was the biggest blow in the game. He has filled in admirably for the injured Matt Duffy this season, hitting .262/.316/.419 with 12 bombs and 36 RBI.

Salvador Perez (rib) said he expects to catch Wednesday against the Tigers.

Perez made an early exit from Tuesday night's victory in Detroit after experiencing tightness around his rib cage, but he should ultimately be fine. The star catcher had a similar issue earlier this year, though that was on the other side of his body.
