Matt Moore (knee) threw 70 pitches during Thursday's live batting practice.

Moore landed on the DL with right knee soreness last week but could return to the starting rotation as early as Tuesday. First the Rangers will wait to see how he responds to Thursday's throwing session. The left-hander has gone just 1-5 for Texas this year and sports an ugly 6.00 ERA since the start of 2017. He hasn't looked the same since his Tommy John surgery in 2014.

Jose Rondon homered in a second straight game Thursday, hitting a three-run shot off the Orioles' Dylan Bundy.

It was one of just two White Sox hits on the day. Rondon has started back-to-back games at DH for a depleted White Sox club. It's an odd sight, considering that we're talking about a middle infielder with a modest .736 OPS in the minors over the course of his career. He shouldn't be a long-term factor on the club, but the White Sox might as well keep him in the lineup until the next time he fails to homer.

Nathan Eovaldi (elbow) will make his 2018 debut Monday or Tuesday against the Athletics.

Eovaldi got knocked around in his last rehab start for Triple-A Durham (4 IP, 10 H, 8 ER Wednesday at Gwinnett) but appears to finally be healthy following a long recovery from Tommy John surgery. The hard-throwing right-hander last pitched in the majors in 2016, going 9-8 with a 4.76 ERA over 24 appearances including 21 starts for the Yankees.

Dustin Pedroia (knee) will be activated for Friday's game against the Braves.

The 34-year-old is back after missing Boston's first 60 games while recovering from offseason knee surgery. Pedroia might be eased in at first, but it shouldn't take long for him to regain his post as the everyday second baseman. Eduardo Nunez, who had been filling in at second base, will shift to a utility role. Pedroia collected just one hit in 14 at-bats during his rehab assignment for Triple-A Pawtucket.

Chelsea Janes of the Washington Post reports the Nationals will recall RHP Justin Miller from Triple-A Syracuse.

He'll absorb the roster spot left by Erick Fedde, who was optioned back to the minors on Thursday. Miller has been lights out this year, contributing a perfect 0.00 ERA along with a 15.15 K/9 over nine relief outings for Syracuse. The 30-year-old right-hander should pitch in middle relief.

Nick Tropeano limited the Blue Jays to one run and four hits in 7 1/3 innings to win Thursday.

Tropeano won't pitch this deep into games very often and he's no sure bet to remain healthy in his first year back from Tommy John surgery, but he's a solid pitcher with the potential to be of at least occasional use in mixed leagues. It helps that he has the very good Angels defense behind him. He's currently 2-3 with a 3.86 ERA in seven starts.
May 24 - 4:41 PM

Jurickson Profar is not in the Rangers' lineup Thursday against the Royals.

It's surprising to see him sit after going 3-for-8 with six RBI over his last two games. Hanser Alberto will handle shortstop in Profar's place and bat eighth against KC left-hander Danny Duffy.
May 24 - 4:41 PM

Marco Estrada lost after giving up four runs in 4 1/3 innings Thursday against the Angels.

That's three straight defeats for Estrada. He shouldn't be at any risk of getting bounced from the Blue Jays' rotation, but he's been a disappointment with his 5.40 ERA to date.
