Rick Porcello will start Sunday against the Yankees.

Doug Fister had been slated to go, but the Red Sox will push the reigning Cy Young winner up to start on regular rest. Fister should go on Monday in Cleveland.

Tigers recalled OF JaCoby Jones from Triple-A Toledo.

Jones has hit only .137/.228/.255 in the big leagues this year. He doesn't figure to play much.
Aug 18 - 4:29 PM

Tigers placed RHP Anibal Sanchez on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to August 17, with left hamstring tightness.

Sanchez tweaked the hammy during Wednesday's start against the Rangers. It's unclear how long he'll be sidelined. Daniel Norris (groin) could be ready to return from the DL to take Sanchez's rotation spot.
Aug 18 - 4:28 PM

Rays optioned OF Mallex Smith to Triple-A Durham.

Smith got off to a great start after taking Kevin Kiermaier's (hip) spot in the lineup, but he's hitting just .245/.288/.327 in August and now Kiermaier is back. The speedster will be back in September.
Aug 18 - 4:25 PM

Kyle Seager (illness) is back in the Mariners' lineup Friday.

Seager missed a couple starts with a stomach virus and said he lost over 10 pounds. He's evidently feeling better, though, and is ready to give it a go against Austin Pruitt and the Rays.
Aug 18 - 4:22 PM

Cardinals recalled RHP Mike Mayers from Triple-A Memphis.

Mayers will work in long relief, with Luke Weaver sliding into Adam Wainwright's (elbow) rotation spot. He's allowed two earned runs over four innings in the majors this season.
Aug 18 - 4:17 PM

Cardinals placed RHP Adam Wainwright on the 10-day disabled list with a right elbow impingement.

Wainwright's velocity was down significantly in his last two starts, so he'll take a break for a while. Luke Weaver will assume his spot in the rotation and is worth picking up in fantasy leagues.
