Twins reassigned OF J.B. Shuck to minor league camp.

Shuck was in Twins camp this spring on a non-guaranteed minor league contract after batting just .205/.248/.299 across 241 plate appearances last season with the White Sox. The 29-year-old will function as organizational outfield depth for Minnesota.

Mets optioned LHP Sean Gilmartin to Triple-A Las Vegas.

Gilmartin spent the majority of spring training working through a left shoulder issue. He posted a rough 7.13 ERA in 17 2/3 innings last season at the big league level.

Twins reassigned 1B/DH ByungHo Park to minor league camp.

Park did everything in his power to make the Opening Day roster this spring, batting .353 with a 1.159 OPS and six home runs over 51 at-bats in Grapefruit League play. For reasons that aren't quite clear, the Twins will head north without their best DH option.

Daniel Stumpf has been placed on waivers by the Tigers.

As a two-time Rule 5 Draft pick, he can opt for free agency if he clears. Jason Beck of MLB.com says the 26-year-old left-hander could wind up re-signing with Detroit. That would likely be a minor league deal.

Rangers released RHP Dillon Gee.

Gee exercised the opt-out clause in his minor league contract Wednesday after being informed that he would not be on the Rangers' major league roster to open the 2017 season. He struck out nine batters over six shutout innings in his final Cactus League start against the Royals. There should be another opportunity out there for the 30-year-old right-hander.
Mar 30 - 8:53 AM

Tigers released RHP Mike Pelfrey.

They tried their best to find a trade partner, but no team wanted to take that plunge. Pelfrey posted an ugly 7.36 ERA this spring in the Grapefruit League, after registering a 5.07 ERA and 1.73 WHIP across 119 innings during the 2016 regular season. Detroit is on the hook for his $8 million salary in 2017.

Dodgers optioned OF Rob Segedin to Triple-A Oklahoma City; reassigned 1B Ike Davis, 1B Cody Bellinger, SS Charlie Culberson, 1B O'Koyea Dickson, OF Tyler Holt and RHP Brandon Morrow to minor league camp.

Segedin played well in Cactus League action this spring, going 13-for-32 (.406) while posting a 1.285 OPS. Alas for the 28-year-old outfielder, this strong work was not quite enough to land him on the Opening Day roster. He will serve as organizational depth moving forward, but could see time with the big league club down the road. In 73 at-bats with the Dodgers last season, Segedin hit .233/.301/.370.
Mar 29 - 8:34 PM

Tyler Holt led the Dodgers with three hits Wednesday in their Cactus League tie with the Mariners.

He also added a stolen base. Holt singled home a run in the first and later scored to give L.A. the lead on Mike Ahmed’s eighth-inning double to center field. The 28-year-old has had a terrific spring, hitting .375 over 40 Cactus League at-bats. Despite his efforts, Holt will likely begin the year at Triple-A Oklahoma City.
