Mark Trumbo (knee) could be back in the Orioles' lineup Monday.

Trumbo is missing a fifth straight start Sunday, but he might be available off the bench. He was diagnosed with arthritis and chondromalacia in his right knee but has made a quicker-than-expected recovery.

Shohei Ohtani is tentatively scheduled to start Wednesday in Detroit.

Angels manager Mike Scioscia is officially only saying the "hope" is Ohtani will start sometime during the Tigers series, but the righty is throwing a bullpen session Monday so he appears lined up for Wednesday. If he does start Wednesday, Ohtani will be pitching on nine days' rest.

Nick Vincent was lifted from an appearance Saturday with a strained right groin.

Vincent was removed from the game against the Twins in the middle of an at-bat after tweaking his groin. It certainly sounds like he could be bound for the disabled list, but we'll know more later Sunday.

Jean Segura went through concussion tests after being removed from Saturday's game versus the Twins when he was kicked in the head.

Segura was kicked in the head by Gregorio Petit while he slid into second base trying to break up a double play in the eighth inning. Manager Scott Servais said after the game that the team would know more about Segura's condition on Sunday, so we should get an update before long.

Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area writes that the Giants might consider releasing Hunter Pence (thumb).

How strong of a possibility it is isn't known, but Pence has six days left on his rehab assignment and it doesn't appear the Giants know what they're going to do with him yet. Manager Bruce Bochy has already said that Mac Williamson will be the team's regular left fielder, so Pence is looking at a reduced role. Pavlovic also writes that Pence has revamped his swing with the help of Doug Latta, who has worked with Williamson and Justin Turner. Pence is 20-for-54 at the plate on his rehab assignment since working with Latta, hitting three doubles and a grand slam.

Teoscar Hernandez is not in the Blue Jays' lineup Sunday.

Hernandez is just 4-for-29 at the plate over his last seven games, to it's probably a good time to get him a breather. The Jays have Dwight Smith Jr. in left field and Curtis Granderson in right.
May 27 - 11:13 AM

Adam Jones is absent from the Orioles' lineup Sunday.

Jones is getting a day of rest. Craig Gentry will cover center field.

Max Fried will be recalled to start the first game of Monday's doubleheader against the Mets.

Brandon McCarthy will get the ball in the second game. Fried has made four relief appearances with the Braves this season, allowing four runs with a 7/3 K/BB ratio over six innings. The left-hander holds a 3.12 ERA with 26 whiffs over 26 innings between Double- and Triple-A this season but should be considered a risky streaming option.
