Kevin Durant had X-rays taken on his left hand after the first quarter of Thursday's game and then quickly returned to action in the second quarter.
X-rays were negative and it's being called a contusion, so it looks like Durant's owners, as well as the Warriors, avoided a disaster tonight. He's fine.
Kristaps Porzingis (ankle) was in a walking boot after Thursday's game.
Coach Jeff Hornacek said Porzingis suffered a mild ankle sprain after stepping on Willy Hernangomez's foot. Porzingis could get further testing on his ligaments in his ankle and could miss time. If he is out, Lance Thomas would benefit the most with Willy Hernangomez, Mindaugas Kuzminskas and Justin Holiday all likely to see minor increases in playing time.
Hollis Thompson made his Pelicans debut on Thursday and played five minutes, scoring three points.
Right now, only E'Twaun Moore, Tim Frazier and Thompson are available to play shooting guard for the Pelicans, while SF Omri Casspi suffered a broken thumb tonight. Moore's the guy to own here, in part because he's starting, but Frazier and Thompson are also worth keeping a close eye on over the next few games.
E'Twaun Moore started at shooting guard on Thursday and hit just 2-of-6 shots for six points, three boards, three assists and a steal in 23 minutes of Thursday's 129-99 blowout loss to the Rockets.
Omri Casspi broke his thumb tonight and the Pelicans are already depleted on the wings after the DeMarcus Cousins trade. Moore should be better than this on most nights and the low minutes were in part due to the blowout factor. He still looks like an interesting pickup in fantasy, as he only has Tim Frazier and Hollis Thompson to compete with for minutes right now. If you picked him up hoping for a big night, give him another chance or two before pulling the plug.
Jrue Holiday hit just 3-of-12 shots and missed all six 3-point attempts for six points, four rebounds, four assists, a steal and two blocks in 35 minutes of Thursday's 129-99 blowout loss to the Rockets.
Holiday was dealing with a new lineup, featuring DeMarcus Cousins and was facing a stellar defensive unit in the Rockets. The minutes were there and it may just take him a few games to figure out how to use his newest big man going forward. We're not overly concerned about Holiday, who has been playing at a very high level, so let's see how the next one goes before panicking.
Anthony Davis hit 8-of-21 shots and 13-of-16 free throws for 29 points, nine rebounds, two steals and two blocks in 33 minutes of Thursday's 129-99 blowout loss to the Rockets.
Davis looked good in the debut of DeMarcus Cousins, but the Pelicans were run out of the gym tonight. It looks like Davis and Cousins are going to get along swimmingly, but the Pelicans will have to find a way to win with the two studs playing in the front court together.
Kevin Durant went to the locker room in the first half on Thursday.
He looked to hurt his left wrist on a fall and could be getting an X-ray. Durant was playing through it and it didn't look bad, but you can never be too sure on hand injuries. We should have an update shortly.
DeMarcus Cousins hit 11-of-19 shots and a 3-pointer on his way to 27 points, 14 rebounds, five assists, five steals and four blocks in 35 minutes of his Pelicans' debut on Thursday.
The bad news is that the Pelicans lost 129-99 and a lot of the starters sat out down the stretch in garbage time. Boogie was a beast tonight, and even avoided a technical foul despite getting tangled up with Nene occasionally. Anthony Davis was also impressive, but the rest of the Pels were a mess. But as of now, it looks like Boogie and the Brow are not going to do too much damage to each others stats.
