Ubaldo Jimenez is lined up to start Wednesday against the White Sox.

He'll oppose Jeff Samardzija. This was the original matchup for Tuesday, but the game was postponed due to the ongoing protests in Baltimore. As of now, it's not certain that Wednesday's game will be played either.

Cubs prospect C/OF Kyle Schwarber went 2-for-3 with a solo home run on Monday for Double-A Tennessee.

Schwarber now has three homers on the season, and he’s batting .370/.483/.652 with 10 RBI and a 13/11 strikeout-to-walk ratio through 14 games. The 22-year-old has been especially hot of late, as he’s posted a robust .464/.467/.750 batting line with 13 hits during his current six-game hitting streak. Meanwhile, he’s driven in at least one run in each game during that span. There’s little doubt Schwarber would continue to hit even if rushed to the major leagues, but the Cubs are wise to use his first full professional season to determine whether he can stick behind the plate.

Devin Mesoraco (hip) is out of the Reds' lineup again for Tuesday's game against the Brewers.

Mesoraco is still on the active roster despite the fact that he hasn't started a game since April 11 due to a lingering hip impingement. Of course, he had a pinch-hit appearance on April 26, so putting him on the DL now might not do them much good. He remains day-to-day.

FOX Sports' Jon Morosi reports that the Mariners are having internal discussions about whether to pursue Jarrod Saltalamacchia.

Saltalamacchia was designated for assignment on Monday, so the Marlins have 10 days to find a trade. Otherwise, he'll hit free agency and can sign at the major league minimum. The Mariners are currently relying on a combination of Mike Zunino and Jesus Sucre, so Salty could at least make sense as a backup option. The Diamondbacks are also reportedly considering the possibility.

Mike Napoli (illness) is out of the starting lineup for the Red Sox for the second straight day Tuesday.

Napoli is sick and apparently needs another day to rest. Daniel Nava will make the start at first base while Brock Holt will get another start, this time in right field.
Apr 28 - 2:08 PM

Pirates prospect 1B Josh Bell went 4-for-5 with a pair of RBI and runs scored on Monday for Double-A Altoona.

The switch-hitting Bell is enjoying a solid start to the season, as the 22-year-old enters Tuesday with a .333/.403/.417 batting line through 15 games. He’s yet to hit a home run, but Bell projects for above-average game power at maturity with the potential for 15-20 home runs. The Pirates have him playing first base full time now, which was bound to happen given his declining athleticism as well as the team’s loaded big league outfield. While moving to first base could help Bell reach the major leagues earlier than expected, it also places additional pressure on him to develop the power commonly associated with the position.

Pablo Sandoval (neck) is in Tuesday's lineup against the Blue Jays.

Sandoval left Monday's game due to neck soreness after suffering a bit of whiplash, but he's good to go. The 28-year-old is batting .294/.392/.412 with two home runs and 11 RBI across his first 18 games this season.
Apr 28 - 2:06 PM

Padres prospect OF Hunter Renfroe went 3-for-5 with a double and three RBI on Monday for Double-A San Antonio.

Renfroe has gotten off to a rough start this season, with a .188/.219/.275 batting line and 23/3 strikeout-to-walk ratio through 16 games. Between the last two seasons at the Double-A level, the 23-year-old owns a .222/.287/.334 batting line with 21 extra-base hits (six home runs) and a 23.5 percent strikeout rate in 324 plate appearances. While his approach might continue to be challenged in the high minors, it shouldn’t be long until Renfroe settles in at the plate and begins to showcase the plus power that produced 21 home runs and 33 doubles in his 2014 full-season debut.
