RHP Jerad Eickhoff was traded from the Rangers to the Phillies in an eight-player deal.

Eickhoff is the most modest talent of the five prospects the Phillies got back, though he's someone who could go into their rotation by the end of the year. The 6-foot-4, 240-pound right-hander was 9-4 with a 4.25 ERA and a 93/33 K/BB ratio in 101 2/3 innings for Triple-A Round Rock. He offers limited upside, but maybe he can survive as a fifth starter.

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal was told by one source that there's a "50/50" chance the Orioles trade for Ben Revere.

The O's have already added Gerardo Parra, but they're still seeking some outfield help. Revere has also been connected with the Blue Jays, but it sounds like their interest has died down a bit. He's under team control through 2017.

ESPN's Jerry Crasnick reports that the Cardinals are going to acquire Jonathan Broxton from the Brewers.

It's unclear what the Cards will be giving up in return. Broxton holds an ugly 5.89 ERA for the season, but he's struck out a batter per inning and been very good of late, allowed runs in just one of his last 10 appearances. The big right-hander will help set up in St. Louis.

ESPN's Buster Olney reports that the Blue Jays "aren't interested" in Ben Revere at the current asking price.

This comes after multiple reports had talks between the Jays and Phillies about the outfielder progressing, but obviously significant ground needs to be made up. Olney says the Phils "are talking to some other team." It's unclear which club that is, but the Orioles reportedly still have some interest even after acquiring Gerardo Parra.

Chris Cotillo of MLBDailyDish.com reports that the Padres and Twins are talking and one rumor has San Diego taking on Ricky Nolasco's contract as part of a deal.

It's interesting given that it's been reported elsewhere that the Padres are looking to cut some payroll. However, if they get the prospect(s) they want, perhaps taking on Nolasco's deal could be agreeable. The Twins have been looking for relief help, so Joaquin Benoit or possibly Craig Kimbrel could be fits.

CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that teams have "checked back in" with the White Sox on Jeff Samardzija, but it's "still not that likely" he's traded.

The White Sox sit only 3.5 games out of a Wild Card spot and appear poised to hold their assets and possibly even add to the club. Samardzija's fantasy owners surely would prefer a trade given the home park he's in and the poor defense behind him. The good news is that he's been really good of late in spite of those factors, posting a 2.66 ERA over his last eight starts.
Jul 31 - 11:31 AM

FOX Sports' Jon Morosi reports that the Dodgers are in "ongoing trade talks" with the Rangers involving Yovani Gallardo.

ESPN's Jerry Crasnick reported earlier Friday that the chances of a Gallardo deal are "50/50." The Dodgers' rotation is full following the additions of Alex Wood and Mat Latos, so the club would figure to make an additional trade should they acquire Gallardo.
Jul 31 - 11:04 AM

Jim Salisbury of CSNPhilly.com reports that the Blue Jays' trade talks with the Phillies involving Ben Revere are "heating up."

CBS Sports' Jon Heyman has confirmed that the Jays are in on Revere. It's unclear what the Phillies might receive in return, but Toronto makes sense for a landing spot for Revere since they're looking for left field help. The speedy outfielder could also be an option to hit leadoff.
