Ichiro Suzuki went 0-for-3 with a walk in Thursday afternoon's loss to the Nationals.

Ichiro--and the Marlins in general--couldn't do much of anything against Nationals starter Max Scherzer on Thursday. The 0-for-3 dropped the veteran outfielder's season-slash to an unimpressive .246/.300/.289. He's amassed just five extra-base hits this season.

Reds recalled RHP Keyvius Sampson from Triple-A Louisville.

Sampson has registered a 3.38 ERA, 1.46 WHIP, and 74/46 K/BB ratio in 82 2/3 innings this season between Double-A and Triple-A. He is obviously not fantasy relevant.

Reds recalled LHP David Holmberg from Triple-A Louisville.

Holmberg will start for the Reds on Thursday night against the Marlins. The 24-year-old left-hander has posted some rather underwhelming numbers this season in the minors and shouldn't be considered a fantasy option.

Christian Yelich went 2-for-4 with a pair of singles and a stolen base in Thursday afternoon's loss to the Nationals.

Yelich was the offensive star for the Marlins on Thursday. Which isn't saying much. His two singles represented 66% of the team's hit output on the day. That's three total hits by the Marlins, if you're not into math. Max Scherzer will do that to you. Yelich also stole his 10th base of the season in the contest. He's hitting just .267/.343/.360 with five homers, 23 RBI and 34 runs scored this season, but if you need somebody to slap singles off Max Scherzer, you've found your guy. Joking aside, Yelich's raised his triple-slash from a watery .217/.279/.296 mark in June and has value in deeper mixed leagues.
Jul 30 - 3:08 PM

Reds optioned C Kyle Skipworth to Double-A Pensacola.

Skipworth was only in the majors for a couple of days and went hitless in four plate appearances. The 25-year-old has shown some offensive promise this season at the Double-A level, but he's not much of a prospect.
Jul 30 - 3:06 PM

Reds placed RHP Nate Adcock on the 15-day disabled list with a right elbow injury.

It's not clear when the injury happened or how severe it is. Adcock had allowed 12 earned runs in 18 innings (13 relief appearances) this season for the Reds.
Jul 30 - 3:05 PM

Yankees placed RHP Michael Pineda on the 15-day disabled list with a right flexor forearm muscle strain.

It's a Grade 1 strain -- the least severe, but still quite serious. Andrew Miller missed a month earlier this year with the same injury. CC Sabathia is starting in Pineda's place Thursday night against the Rangers. It's time for the unusually-quiet Yanks to dive head-first into the trade market.
Jul 30 - 3:02 PM

Max Scherzer was in control throughout Thursday afternoon's 1-0 win over the Marlins, allowing just three hits and no runs over seven innings.

Scherzer had no margin for error in the contest, as the Nationals scored one run in the game, total. That's all Max Scherzer needs, apparently, as he allowed just three singles in a dominant performance. Perhaps the most notable aspect of the start was that the normally walk-stingy Scherzer handed out three free passes against six strikeouts. We're nitpicking, just because he's been so awesome this year. He'll carry a sharp 2.22 ERA, 0.83 WHIP and 172/19 K/BB ratio across 150 innings into his next start, a home date with the Diamondbacks.
