Bears fired GM Phil Emery.

Emery took over for Jerry Angelo in 2012. In the three years since then, the Bears have fired Lovie Smith, given Jay Cutler a $126M contract and gone 23-25 with zero playoff appearances. Emery has to take the heat for negotiating the Cutler contract.

Falcons fired coach Mike Smith.

Smith went 66-46 in seven years at the helm of the Falcons and was the 2008 NFL Coach of the Year, but was just 1-4 in four playoff appearances and 10-22 over the last two seasons. There was no way the Falcons could bring him back, even if they somehow had made the postseason in the lowly NFC South. Smith, a defensive-minded head coach, had the league's worst defense this season and No. 27 unit in 2013. He also repeatedly bungled end-game situations. The Falcons join the 49ers and Jets as teams with head coaching vacancies so far on Black Monday.

Ravens DL Haloti Ngata's suspension is over.

Ngata, busted for taking Adderall, served his four-game ban. So the Ravens' already nasty front seven gets him back just in time to face the Steelers in Saturday night's Wild Card game. Ngata was PFF's No. 8 3-4 DE this season and is a two-time first-team All-Pro.

The NFL will review Ndamukong Suh's Week 17 incident with Aaron Rodgers.

Replays showed Suh stepping twice on Rodgers' leg. The first one appears to be accidental, but the second one looks intentional in slow motion. Perhaps Suh would get the benefit of the doubt if it wasn't for his history. He's stomped on Evan Dietrich-Smith, put an illegal low block on John Sullivan, put a dirty hit to the head on Eric Winston -- all earning a shady reputation. We'd be surprised if Suh were suspended for a playoff game, but the league is at least going to look at the situation.

Giants WR Corey Washington was a healthy scratch in Week 17.

The meaningless finale against the Eagles' inept secondary seemed like a perfect spot to get Washington some real NFL chances. The Giants curiously didn't see it that way. So Washington's rookie season ends with five catches for 52 yards and one touchdown in 14 games. He'll likely be buried on the depth chart again next year with Odell Beckham, Victor Cruz (if healthy) and Rueben Randle all under contract.

LeSean McCoy said Sunday he's "sure" he can work something out with the Eagles regarding his contract.

McCoy did not have a good season, but he's still just 26 years old and it would cost the Eagles $4.4M in dead money to cut him. That's not happening, especially with Chip Kelly saying Monday he wants Shady back. McCoy will likely have to do some kind of restructure, as he carries an $11.95M cap number and $9.75M base salary in 2015. The Eagles stripped him of goal-line work late in the season and he also lost a lot of pass-game work to Darren Sproles. Shady's YPC and touchdowns dropped from 5.11 and 11 in 2013 to 4.22 and five in 2014.

Jets fired GM John Idzik.

Hired in January of 2013 to bring Seattle's brand of roster building to the Jets, Idzik instead failed miserably. He bungled the Darrelle Revis situation, left Rex Ryan with street-level talent in the secondary, drafted Geno Smith and moved at a glacial pace in free agency decisions. Idzik reportedly rubbed multiple people in the Jets front office the wrong way, creating "division" in the organization. Owner Woody Johnson is cleaning house and starting over by firing both Idzik and Rex Ryan at the same time.

Rex Ryan - DT - Jets

Jets fired head coach Rex Ryan and GM John Idzik.

Ryan went 20-12 in his first two seasons with the Jets, playing in two straight AFC Championship Games (2009, 2010). In the four seasons since then, he's gone 26-38 with zero playoff appearances and an inability to develop offensive talent. Still, Ryan hits the market as one of the best candidates available, an excellent motivator even if he's best suited to be a defensive coordinator. Ryan's defenses ranked 1st, 3rd, 5th, 8th, 11th and 6th in his six years at the helm. If another head coaching opportunity doesn't materialize for him this offseason, it's possible he'll take a year off and do some television work.
