Matt Lindstrom earned his third save of the season in Wednesday's win over the Tigers.

Lindstrom found himself in trouble, putting the winning run on base with a walk and a single, but was able to escape the jam. Lindstrom has made things anything but comfortable pitching out of the bullpen in nine appearances to start the season.

Andre Rienzo got the win in Wednesday's start against the Tigers, allowing four runs in 6 1/3 innings.

Rienzo, filling in for the injured Felipe Paulino, mostly stayed out of trouble, but the Tigers took advantage of him in the fourth inning, hanging a four-spot on the board. Rienzo surrendered five hits and two walks while striking out three. He will face the Rays the next time out.

White Sox optioned LHP Charlie Leesman to Triple-A Charlotte.

Leesman was called up to start on Tuesday, allowing six run over 2 2/3 innings in a loss to the Tigers. He was scheduled for another start on Sunday, so it's unclear how the Sox rotation will shake out. Leesman was optioned to make room for Gordon Beckham on the active roster.

Drew Smyly held the White Sox to two runs over six innings in Wednesday's start, but took home the no-decision.

Smyly, making his second start of the season, looked better than he did his last time out on the mound. Overall, the lefty allowed six hits and a walk while striking out seven. Smyly will look to continue improving, getting the White Sox again in his next start.

Leury Garcia went 2-for-4 with a double and a stolen base as the White Sox defeated the Tigers on Wednesday.

Garcia hasn't been terribly productive with the bat as he notched his first multi-hit game since April 2. He swiped his third bag of the season, but was also thrown out on another attempt, making him 3-for-4 on the season.
Apr 23 - 10:12 PM

Paul Konerko went 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored as the White Sox defeated the Tigers on Wednesday.

Konerko, who has played sparingly, was hitting .105 in 20 plate appearances entering the night. The 38-year-old was making only his fourth start of the season. With Adam Dunn and Jose Abreu hitting so well, it's hard to fault the White Sox for using Konerko so sparingly.

Skip Schumaker (shoulder) will travel to Arizona on Thursday to begin participating in extended spring training games.

Schumaker dislocated his left shoulder during an exhibition game on March 21. He's been taking batting practice in recent days, and he's now ready for game action. He'll go from there to a rehab assignment at Triple-A Louisville. He's looking at an early- to mid-May return.

Michael Pineda was ejected in the second inning of Wednesday's game at Fenway Park for having a foreign substance on his neck.

Two starts ago -- against the same Red Sox club -- Pineda made news for what appeared to be a foreign substance on his hand. When questioned about the substance after that start, Pineda called it "dirt." Fool me once, shame one you, but Red Sox manager John Farrell wasn't going to be fooled again. Pineda could be in for a 10-game suspension as a result of the ejection.
