Brandon Weeden completed 16-of-26 passes for 246 yards and a touchdown in Sunday night's Week 4 loss to the Saints.
The Cowboys continued to hide Weeden behind conservative playcalling, leading to another game of mostly check downs. Most of Weeden's yards came on a 67-yard third-quarter pass to a wide open Brice Butler. Weeden has two straight losses since taking over for Tony Romo, but is playing without much of a supporting cast. Weeden isn't a Week 5 streaming option against the Patriots.
Drew Brees completed 33-of-41 passes for 359 yards and two touchdowns in the Saints' Sunday night Week 4 win over the Cowboys.
Brees managed the game effectively and did enough to outlast the Cowboys. He was held in check for most of the night, but hit C.J. Spiller for an 80-yard touchdown on the opening drive of overtime. Brees looked at less than 100 percent and didn’t take any deep shots. Through four weeks (three starts), he’s on pace for 3,876 yards and a 16:8 TD/INT ratio. His rest-of-season outlook and ability to stay healthy are concerns, but Brees should outperform his touchdown rates. Brees will be a QB1 for Week 5 against the Eagles.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said early injury reports do not "sound good" for RB Lance Dunbar (knee).
Dunbar suffered what looked like a serious knee injury on the opening kickoff of the second half. He was spotted on crutches with a brace on his left leg in the locker room following the game. We will know more about Dunbar's status after he undoubtedly undergoes tests on Monday, but it is likely he has played his last snap this season.
Brice Butler exited Sunday night's Week 4 game against the Saints with a hamstring injury.
Butler went down at the end of a 67-yard catch in the third quarter. It was his only target of the night. The Cowboys ruled Butler out for the rest of the game.
Lance Dunbar was carted off with a left knee injury in Sunday night's Week 4 game against the Saints.
Dunbar was injured on the opening kickoff of the second half. This had the look of a serious injury, as Dunbar's knee gave out from him on the play. The Cowboys immediately ruled Dunbar out. Dunbar had three carries for 54 yards before exiting.
Lions WLB DeAndre Levy (hip) has been ruled out for Week 4 against the Seahawks.
Levy did not travel with the team to Seattle. He was able to practice on a limited basis all week, so there is a decent chance he returns next week against Arizona. Josh Bynes will continue to start in Levy's place.
49ers WR Quinton Patton suffered a concussion Week 4 against the Packers.
Patton caught two passes for 53 yards against Green Bay. Patton will have to pass through the league's concussion protocol before returning.
Pro Football Talk reports Bears OLB Willie Young requested a trade following the departure of Jared Allen last week.
Young was active and played snaps Week 4 against the Raiders after being a healthy scratch Week 3. Like Allen, Young has been miscast as a 3-4 outside linebacker, but he would be a great addition for a 4-3 team in need of pass rush help. Young is scheduled to make base salaries of $2.45 million this year and next.
