Mike Trout hit his 15th homer and walked Tuesday against the Rays.

Trout hit his 15th homer on June 25, his 75th game, last year. It took him 42 games this season.

Andrelton Simmons went 3-for-3 with two doubles and a walk against the Rays on Tuesday.

Simmons struggled in the first half of May, but he is 10-for-20 with five extra-base hits in his last five games. At this rate, he'll probably be the Angels' cleanup hitter tomorrow.
May 23 - 10:24 PM

Danny Duffy held the Yankees to two runs over seven frames in Tuesday's 6-2 victory.

Duffy hadn't given up a home run since all the way back on April 8, which was quite a feat for a flyball pitcher who coughed up 27 gopherballs last season. He surrendered a pair in this one -- one to Chris Carter and one to Aaron Hicks -- but they were both solo shots and that was all the Yankees could put together against him. Duffy has struck out 23 over his last 21 innings and his velocity has started to creep back up, which is obviously a great sign. He'll get the Indians in Cleveland on Sunday.
May 23 - 10:24 PM

Kevin Kiermaier went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts in the loss to the Angels on Tuesday.

Kiermaier is 5-for-29 with two walks and no extra-base hits in seven games since the Rays opted to return him to the second spot in the order. He's looked more like a No. 8 hitter all year.
May 23 - 10:22 PM

Jordan Montgomery spun 6 2/3 innings of one-run ball but took a loss Tuesday against the Royals.

Montgomery deserved a better fate in this one. He got tagged by Lorenzo Cain with a solo shot with one out in the seventh, and Yankees manager Joe Girardi only let the left face one more batter. He then brought in Adam Warren, who promptly gave up a single and a homer to cough up the lead. He didn’t get a win, but Montgomery was great with just two hits and no walks allowed to go along with six strikeouts. The lefty faces the A’s at home on Sunday.
May 23 - 10:19 PM

Whit Merrifield singled and hit a solo homer Tuesday versus the Yankees.

Merrified had one of four longballs that the Royals hit in the seventh and eighth innings, with his coming off of Jonathan Holder. It was his fifth homer already over just 105 at-bats, and he's now riding a modest nine-game hitting streak.
May 23 - 10:18 PM

Charlie Blackmon hit a pair of two-run homers off Zach Eflin as the Rockies beat Phillies 8-2 on Tuesday.

Blackmon struggled on the road in the first month of the year, but he's 14-for-36 with three homers and 13 RBI in eight games during the current trip. It helps that he's faced the Twins, Reds and Phillies in those games, but it's still nice to see.
May 23 - 10:17 PM

Jorge Bonifacio went deep again Tuesday, swatting a two-run shot in the Royals' win over the Yankees.

Bonifacio just missed a homer when he flied out to the warning track in the second inning. After striking out in the fifth, he took Adam Warren deep in the seventh to the opposite field to give the Royals the lead. Bonifacio, who will turn 24 in a couple weeks, has now homered in four of his last five games.
