Indians manager Terry Francona confirmed Friday that Corey Kluber will start on Opening Day.

The veteran right-hander has been brought along slowly this spring after shouldering such a large workload on the Tribe's run to the seventh game of the World Series last year, but he looks ready to go now. When asked about it on Friday, Francona quipped, "There's no doubt in his mind he's pitching Opening Day, That's good enough for me."

Steve Pearce is making his first start in the outfield on Saturday in an exhibition against the Canadian junior team.

It isn't quite Grapefruit League action, but it's a very encouraging sign. Pearce is hitting cleanup and playing left field in that lineup. Barring any setbacks, he should be able to play the outfield on Opening Day as he has been targeting.

Miguel Rojas went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI on Friday, leading the Marlins to a 3-0 victory over the Nationals in Grapefruit League play.

It's just the ninth win for the Marlins on the spring season. Rojas' RBI double plated Ichiro Suzuki in the fourth inning, increasing the Marlins' lead to 2-0. He's hitting a robust .424 with a 1.096 OPS in limited action this spring and should secure a bench spot on the club's Opening Day roster.

Jose Urena was outstanding in Friday's Grapefruit League victory over the Nationals, scattering three hits over four shutout innings.

The right-hander punched out five and didn't issue a walk in the contest. While he came into camp likely to make the Opening Day bullpen as a middle reliever, it appears as though Urena could open the season in the starting rotation. He could be worth a late-round flier in NL-only formats.

Wilmer Difo went 1-for-4 and stole a base as the Nationals fell to the Marlins in Grapefruit League action on Friday.

Difo was hitting out of the leadoff spot in this one. He has had an impressive spring, hitting .318 with a .809 OPS and could give the Nats a reason to keep him on the roster instead of Stephen Drew.
Mar 25 - 12:07 AM

Jacob Turner suffered a loss against the Marlins in Grapefruit League play on Friday, allowing two runs on four hits over his 4 1/3 frames.

The right-hander walked one and struck out three on the night. The former top prospect owns a 5.14 ERA and 1.57 WHIP across 14 innings for the Nationals this spring. He'll open the year as rotation depth at Triple-A Syracuse.
Mar 25 - 12:01 AM

Danny Espinosa went 1-for-3 and drove home a pair of runs as the Angels rolled to a 4-0 victory over the Mariners in Cactus League play on Friday.

His two-run double off M's starter Ariel Miranda in the second inning got the Angels on the board and was more than enough to stand up. Set to open the year as the Halo's starting second baseman, Espinosa is hitting just .229 with no homers, seven RBI and a pair of stolen bases this spring.
Mar 24 - 11:02 PM

Bud Norris and seven Angels' relievers combined to no-hit the Mariners in Cactus League play on Friday.

Norris worked two perfect innings to start the game, striking out two in the process. He was followed by Jose Alvarez, Cam Bedrosian, Andrew Bailey, Austin Adams, Drew Gagnon, Justin Anderson and Abel De Los Santos who each worked no-hit innings. Norris now owns a 3.48 ERA on the spring and could conceivably crack the Opening Day roster.
