Eduardo Nunez (hamstring) has been scratched from the Giants' lineup Thursday.

Nunez tweaked his left hamstring on Wednesday night and the Giants want to play it safe. It doesn't sound like something that will require a lengthy absence. Christian Arroyo is starting at third base now in the matinee game against the Cubs.

Yankees prospect Clint Frazier homered and doubled on Wednesday for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Frazier has had an up-and-down season. Yesterday was an example of the ups. With his bat speed, he's going to make a lot of hard contact, but he hasn't made the necessary adjustments to make said contact on a consistent basis. The future is still (potentially) bright, but he's not quite ready for the highest level.

Christian Arroyo is out of the Giants' lineup Thursday against the Cubs.

It's just a routine day off, but with Eduardo Nunez in the starting lineup at third base there's some thought that Arroyo could be looking a longer timeout. The 21-year-old is batting .196/.248/.313 with 30 strikeouts through his first 29 major league games.

Brewers prospect Josh Hader gave up eight runs on nine hits in just three innings on Wednesday for Triple-A Colorado Springs.

Hader also walked three and struck out two. Pitching in the PCL is no fun, and it's even less fun when you're pitching in Colorado Springs, and four of the hits allowed were homers. The left-hander has electric stuff, but the command still leaves a lot to be desired. This is a high-risk, high-reward pitcher, for certain.

Eduardo Nunez (hamstring) is in the Giants' starting lineup on Thursday afternoon against the Cubs.

He'll start at third base and bat sixth versus Cubs right-hander Eddie Butler. Nunez tweaked his right hamstring Wednesday but it was obviously nothing serious.
May 25 - 12:01 PM

Mariners prospect Tyler O'Neill went 2-for-5 with a homer on Wednesday for Triple-A Tacoma.

His other hit was a double, and he knocked in three runs. It was a brutal start to the 2017 season for O'Neill, but he's starting to make more hard contact and adjust to the highest level. With the Mariners out of contention, he could get a chance to play before the end of the year.

Jumbo Diaz (arm) said Thursday that he doesn't expect to be out long.

Diaz landed on the 10-day disabled list Thursday morning with right arm fatigue. He's having trouble working effectively on back-to-back days and holds a rough 5.49 ERA in 19 2/3 innings for the year. The big right-hander will probably go out on a short minor league rehab assignment before returning to the Tampa Bay bullpen in early June.

Daniel Poncedeleon (head) has made significant progress and could be allowed to return to his home in Florida after a week or two of rehab in Iowa.

Poncedeleon needed surgery for swelling in his brain after getting struck on the side of the head by a comebacker May 9 while pitching for Triple-A Memphis against the Cubs' Triple-A team in Iowa. He's been in a local hospital there ever since. The 25-year-old right-hander probably won't pitch in live competition for several months.
