Indians outfield prospect Bradley Zimmer has been promoted from Double-A Akron to Triple-A Columbus.

Fellow top outfield prospect Clint Frazier will join him on the move. Zimmer, 23, was slashing .252/.370/.472 with 14 home runs, 53 RBI, 31 stolen bases, and 57 runs scored through 92 games this season at the Double-A level. He needs to improve his overall plate discipline, but those counting stats are eye-popping to any fantasy baseball enthusiast. Zimmer was the 21st overall pick in 2014 out of the University of San Francisco. He should make his major league debut later this summer.

Tyler Collins (neck) slugged a pinch-hit solo homer Sunday in the Tigers' loss to the White Sox.

Collins' solo shot in the top of the ninth inning off Chicago closer David Robertson was part of a three-homer barrage that tied the game at 4-4. But the White Sox rallied in the bottom of the frame to grab the 5-4 walkoff win. Collins had been sidelined for a couple of days due to muscle spasms in his neck.

Maikel Franco (wrist) went 1-for-2 in the Phillies' loss to the Pirates on Sunday.

Franco was held out of the starting lineup Sunday with a bruised wrist, but he entered the game in the bottom of the fifth inning after Andres Blanco left with a fractured index finger. Franco should start at third base in Monday night's series opener at Marlins Park.

Oswaldo Arcia (elbow) finished 0-for-3 with two strikeouts Sunday in the Rays' loss to the A's.

Arcia made an early exit from Saturday's game after suffering a mild right elbow strain and may have still been in some discomfort for Sunday afternoon's series finale in Oakland. Arcia, 25, is batting .226/.301/.387 with six homers and 19 RBI in 52 games this season.

Josh Reddick (back) played an inning of right field Sunday in the A's defeat of the Rays.

That's a pretty good indication that his return to the starting lineup is imminent. Reddick has been bothered by a sore back since Saturday. It's nothing serious.
Jul 25 - 6:13 AM

Logan Morrison (wrist) is expected to return to the Rays' starting lineup on Tuesday.

Morrison hasn't appeared in a game in a week due to wrist and forearm tendinitis. He was given a cortisone injection Thursday and it is apparently improving the situation. LoMo wanted to play Sunday versus the A's but manager Kevin Cash decided to use Monday's scheduled team off day to get the 28-year-old a bit more rest.

Chase Whitley (elbow) threw two scoreless innings Sunday with High-A Charlotte.

Whitley worked around a hit and a walk for another sharp rehab appearance. He struck out three batters in a scoreless frame last week in his rehab debut. The right-hander should become an option for the Rays' bullpen (or perhaps starting rotation) by the middle of August. He underwent Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery last May.
Jul 25 - 6:07 AM

Brad Boxberger (oblique) will not be activated from the disabled list before Friday.

Boxberger has allowed two runs in three innings on his minor league rehab assignment, and he has yet to pitch on back-to-back days. That is scheduled to happen this week, with the Rays likely hoping to see better results. Boxberger has been limited to one appearance at the major league level this season because of oblique and abdominal issues.
