Jayson Werth is back in the Nationals' lineup Wednesday.

Werth didn't start Tuesday after exiting Monday's contest with a sprained ankle, but he was able to pinch-hit and is now ready to re-enter the lineup. The outfielder sports a .283/.375/.444 batting line with 12 homers and 58 RBI over 101 games this season.

CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the Orioles are interested in the Astros' Dallas Keuchel and Jarred Cosart.

The O's don't want to give up one of their better pitching prospects for a rental like Jon Lester and instead are focused more on players that they'd control longer. Both Keuchel and Cosart have yet to reach arbitration, so they'd fit the bill. The Orioles have also dealt with the Astros in the past, having acquire Bud Norris at the deadline last season.

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Rockies plan to either pick up Brett Anderson's $12 million option for 2015 or sign him to a long-term deal.

Anderson has been terrific in his last two starts, which has piqued the interest of the Yankees, according to ESPN's Buster Olney. However, Rosenthal says Colorado wants to keep the lefty around rather than field trade offers for him. Anderson has been limited to just six starts this year due to a fractured left index finger, but he's put up a 3.24 ERA in those outings.

Scott Lauber of the Boston Herald reports that the Red Sox have told teams that it will require "at least two elite-level prospects" to acquire Jon Lester.

It's a hefty price to pay for a two-month rental, but you can't blame the Red Sox for asking for that haul, especially when it looks like David Price might not be dealt. CBS Sports' Jon Heyman has listed the Dodgers and the Cardinals as the favorites for Lester, and Lauber has been told by industry insiders that the Dodgers are the "front-runner." The Pirates and A's are lurking in the background.

Ubaldo Jimenez (ankle) allowed one unearned run on five hits and three walks while striking out three over 4 2/3 frames in his first rehab start with Short Season-Aberdeen.

Orioles manager Buck Showalter said before he knew the results of the appearance that it's possible Jimenez will be rejoin the big club's rotation after the outing. "We’ll see, if it goes well,’’ Showalter said. "We can pitch him at [Triple-A] Norfolk or activate him. We’ll see [after] tonight." Jimenez has been out since mid-July with a sprained right ankle.

CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the Dodgers and Cardinals "appear to be the teams most aggressively competing" for Jon Lester and David Price.

Lester is virtually certain to get moved after being scratched from Wednesday's scheduled start, while Price's status is more up the air with the Rays back in the playoff hunt. Heyman writes that the Pirates "are still involved to some degree on the Lester front, but they are reluctant to surrender top prospects for a rental, seeming to place them third in the derby at the moment." The A's have also been mentioned as a potential suitor for Lester, but it appears that they may have fallen back from the pack, as well. It could be an interesting battle between the Dodgers and Cardinals for Lester and perhaps Price, as they both have the prospects to deal and the room to add payroll.

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the trade talks for Alex Rios "could go to the end."

Rosenthal notes that several of the clubs interested in Rios -- the Indians, Reds, Royals and Giants -- have been fading of late. He also mentions that the Rangers are willing to pick up a portion of what remains of the outfielder's $12.5 million salary for this season. Rios is batting .305/.334/.431 with four homers and 43 RBI in 2014.

Giants optioned RHP George Kontos to Triple-A Fresno.

Kontos has gone back-and-forth between the majors and minors a few times this season even though he's pitched well with the big club, posting a 3.00 ERA while striking out 21 over 21 frames. He'll be back eventually.
