Felix Hernandez is scheduled to throw live batting practice Wednesday.

The Mariners will decide after whether King Felix will throw another BP session or progress to live game action. Hernandez posted a fantastic 2.14 ERA with a 248/46 K/BB ratio across 236 innings last season and will likely be the second starting pitcher off the board in most mixed fantasy leagues this spring.

Mariners manager Lloyd McClendon said Wednesday that Danny Hultzen (shoulder) should see game action by the end of the week.

Hultzen threw 28 pitches Tuesday in his first batting practice session of the spring and came out of it feeling great. This is promising news for someone who missed all of last season following rotator cuff and labrum surgery. The 25-year-old has a lot of work to do, but he could work his way to the majors at some point later this year.
Mar 4 - 10:34 AM

James Paxton (forearm) will throw his first bullpen session of the spring on Friday.

Paxton injured both of his forearms in an awkward fall during an agility drill in mid-February, but it was never a major concern and he's feeling better now. While he's a bit behind the other pitchers in camp, he should still have enough time to get ready for the season. The southpaw posted a 3.04 ERA with 59/29 K/BB ratio in 74 innings across 13 starts last season and makes for an interesting late-round target in mixed fantasy leagues.
Mar 4 - 10:22 AM

Matt Wieters (elbow) will serve as the DH in Wednesday's Grapefruit League game against the Tigers.

Wieters, who is making his way back from Tommy John surgery, is expected to remain in the DH spot until around March 17. The hope is he'll make enough progress with his catching and throwing drills to get back behind the plate by then. As of now, the Orioles expect him to be ready for Opening Day.
Mar 4 - 10:14 AM

Brandon Drury will start at second base in Wednesday's Cactus League game against the Rockies.

It's an interesting note, as Drury has mostly played second base in the minors. The 22-year-old batted .299/.362/.510 with 23 home runs and 95 RBI across 136 games between High-A and Double-A last season and is considered one of the Diamondbacks' top position prospects.
Mar 4 - 10:12 AM

Michael Kirkman (shoulder) is scheduled to throw his first bullpen session of the spring on Wednesday.

Good news for Kirkman, who has fallen behind the other pitchers in camp due to an impingement in the back of his left shoulder. The 28-year-old southpaw was non-tendered by the Rangers in December, but he's in camp this spring as a non-roster invitee.
Mar 4 - 10:04 AM

The Rangers have returned LHP Edgar Olmos to the Mariners.

The Rangers claimed Olmos off waivers from the Mariners last week, but they are getting it reversed after he was diagnosed with a left shoulder impingement. The 24-year-old southpaw was previously designated for assignment by Seattle after the Rickie Weeks signing.
Mar 4 - 9:35 AM

Miguel Cabrera (foot) took batting practice on the field Wednesday for the second straight day.

Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said that Cabrera felt really good. He still has to progress with his running program, but the Tigers couldn't ask for much more at this stage of his rehab. He still has some work to do, but Opening Day isn't unrealistic.
