Cam Bedrosian (groin) is set to begin facing live hitters in the next day or two.

Bedrosian is working out at the Angels' spring training complex in Arizona and could head out on a minor league rehab assignment next week if everything continues to go smoothly. Bud Norris has done a surprisingly great job as the Angels' fill-in closer and Huston Street (shoulder) is due back from the disabled list soon, so Bedrosian might return to a seventh- or eighth-inning setup job. At least initially. He's been out since April 22 with a right groin strain.

Phillies activated RHP Jeanmar Gomez from the 10-day disabled list.

Gomez missed around three weeks with a right elbow impingement. The Phillies' Opening Day closer owns a brutal 7.94 ERA and 1.77 WHIP in 11 1/3 innings this season.

Jameson Taillon (cancer) threw a 35-pitch bullpen session on Thursday morning.

Taillon called it "more competitive" than his first 25-pitch bullpen session on Tuesday. The young right-hander is recovering from surgery for testicular cancer and seems to be making swift progress, though the Pirates have yet to map out a timetable for his return to the active roster. It's not worth speculating.

Angels recalled RHP Daniel Wright from Triple-A Salt Lake.

Wright will make a spot start for the Angels in Thursday afternoon's series finale at Tropicana Field. He's filling in for Alex Meyer, who was placed on the disabled list Wednesday with a back injury. Wright is not a recommended fantasy streamer in what will likely be a short outing against the Rays.

Angels optioned RHP Brooks Pounders to Triple-A Salt Lake.

Pounders was only up in the majors for a day and worked a scoreless inning of relief in Wednesday's loss to the Rays. Thursday's starter Daniel Wright will take over the vacant 25-man roster spot.

Nationals manager Dusty Baker confirmed late Wednesday that Koda Glover is the club's closer.

Baker made it official after Glover worked a 1-2-3 ninth inning in a non-save situation Wednesday night against the Mariners. "Koda was kind of lobbying for that in the first place," Baker said. "We wanted to break him in slowly because this guy’s ... shoot, he’s only a year-and-a-half out of college. So he had said that’s the job he wanted, and so it’s his now." Shawn Kelley and Blake Treinen will work in setup duty.

Yankees recalled INF/OF Rob Refsnyder from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

This is the corresponding move to Jacoby Ellsbury's placement on the 7-day concussion disabled list late Wednesday night. Refsnyder has logged just three at-bats this season at the major league level.

Maikel Franco is back in the Phillies' starting lineup on Thursday afternoon against the Rockies.

The young third baseman will hit cleanup after getting benched for two days. He has struggled to the tune of a .221/.281/.377 slash line so far in 2017.
