Rangers optioned LHP Alex Claudio to Triple-A Round Rock.
Claudio gets the boot despite posting a 2.63 ERA over 16 relief appearances. Jake Smolinski has taken his spot on the roster.
Lucas Duda (knee) is back in the Mets' lineup Tuesday.
Duda was hit in the right knee by a pitch Sunday and was too stiff to start Monday. He's back out there Tuesday, though, against Ian Kennedy and the Padres.
Kevin Kiermaier is not in the Rays' lineup Tuesday.
Mikie Mahtook is getting the start in center field against lefty C.J. Wilson. Kiermaier should return to action Wednesday.
Howie Kendrick is not in the Dodgers' lineup for the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader.
Kike Hernandez is filling in at second base. Kendrick will be back out there on Wednesday.
Cubs recalled OF Matt Szczur from Triple-A Iowa.
He's batting just .172/.242/.241 over 18 games in the majors this season. Szczur will provide depth at all three outfield spots.
Cubs optioned OF Mike Baxter to Triple-A Iowa.
Baxter was up with the club for a couple week but didn't start a game. He's replaced on the roster by Matt Szczur.
Michael McKenry finished 2-for-4 with a homer and three RBI as the Rockies defeated the visiting Dodgers 6-3 in the first half of Tuesday's doubleheader.
McKenry cranked a two-run shot off Ian Thomas in the bottom of the fourth inning and he got to Thomas again for an RBI double in the bottom of the fifth inning. The veteran backup catcher has an impressive .896 OPS in 52 at-bats this season for the Rockies.
Jorge Soler will undergo an MRI Tuesday on his ailing ankle.
The results are expected on Wednesday. Soler hurt the ankle when he landed awkwardly running to first base on Monday night. The Cubs haven't ruled out a potential stint on the disabled list.
