Chris Davis went 4-for-4 with his 14th home run Wednesday, and the Orioles beat the Yankees 6-3.

Davis continues to tear the cover off the baseball, now hitting .329/.420/.690 through 45 games. He is tied with Justin Upton for the league lead in home runs, and he trails only Miguel Cabrera in RBI. Davis is showing that his breakout 2012 was legit.

Curtis Granderson went 3-for-3 with his first home run of the season, but the Yankees lost to the Orioles on Wednesday.

The home run came seven games in, and it gave him his first RBI of 2013. His third-inning double was also a first. Yankees manager Joe Girardi had Granderson batting leadoff in an attempt to get his bat going. He should move toward the middle of the order eventually.

Matt Wieters went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer as the Orioles beat the Yankees on Wednesday.

Wieters brought out the lumber, doubling off starter Hiroki Kuroda before homering off reliever Preston Claiborne. The home run was Wieters' seventh on the year and helped lift his RBI total to 26.

Yankees manager Joe Girardi said he would be "shocked" if Hiroki Kuroda (calf) was unable to make his next start.

Kuroda's calf tightened up on him an inning after he was hit with a comebacker Wednesday, forcing him to leave the game. But he'll be fine. The right-hander is scheduled to face the Mets early next week.

Jason Hammel allowed two runs over 6 2/3 innings as the Orioles beat the Yankees on Wednesday.

Hammel was coming off two straight starts in which he didn't last five innings, so Wednesday was a return to form of sorts for the right-hander. Despite an ugly 5.37 ERA, Hammel is now 6-2 through 10 starts. His next turn will come Monday against the Nationals.

Francisco Liriano fired seven scoreless innings Wednesday in the Pirates' 1-0 victory over the Cubs.

Liriano has been dominant in all three of his starts since returning from the disabled list and is a must-own in every mixed fantasy format at this point. He allowed only two hits to the Cubs on Wednesday, fanning nine batters and walking just one. The left-hander is clearly enjoying his first taste of the National League but has an interleague matchup next week against a tough Tigers offense. It'll be a good test.

Mark Melancon earned his first save of the season Wednesday as the Pirates defeated the Cubs.

Jason Grilli threw 35 pitches on Tuesday night and was unavailable on Wednesday, so Melancon filled in and was able to convert. That setup man and closer combo has been excellent all season for the Pirates.

Phillies optioned RHP Phillippe Aumont to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Aumont struck out 15 over 13 innings but also posted a 4.15 ERA and 2.08 WHIP over 16 appearances. The Phillies will make a corresponding roster move prior to Friday's game.
