Brandon Crawford homered and walked in a 1-for-2 effort on Monday as the Giants defeated the Brewers.

Crawford delivered a two-run home run off of Kyle Lohse in the third inning, pushing the Giants' lead to 3-0. He's on a six-game hitting streak, currently standing with a .270/.336/.481 batting line along with 15 home runs and 61 RBI.

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that Troy Tulowitzki and LaTroy Hawkins have been traded to the Blue Jays for Jose Reyes and minor leaguers.

Well, how about that for a late-night surprise? Offense certainly wasn't a need for Toronto given that they are leading baseball in runs by a wide margin, but they obviously saw an opportunity to make a strength even stronger. Tulo is under contract through 2020 with a club option for 2021. Reyes might be flipped elsewhere by the Rockies, as dealing Tulo but then taking on Reyes' contract wouldn't make a lot of sense for their rebuild.

FOX Sports' Jon Morosi reports that the Mariners have heard from "several teams" interested in Hisashi Iwakuma.

However, Morosi adds that Seattle "still hasn't committed firmly to trading him." The Mariners are, at best, on the fringe of the Wild Card race and Iwakuma is a free agent after this season, but it doesn't appear they're ready to give up yet. Iwakuma has been limited to just seven starts this season due to injury but has been really good the last three times out, allowing a total of just four runs.

Kyle Hendricks served up four runs in five innings, taking a no-decision in Monday's walk-off, 9-8 victory over the Rockies.

Hendricks allowed a two-run home run to Carlos Gonzalez in the third inning and a two-run single to D.J. LeMahieu in the fourth, but the Cubs rallied for six runs in the bottom half of the fourth. The right-hander, overall, gave up seven hits and three walks while striking out four. Hendricks owns a productive 3.81 ERA on the season with a 1.17 WHIP and a 97/23 K/BB ratio over 115 2/3 innings. He'll toe the rubber in Milwaukee against the Brewers this weekend.

Jorge De La Rosa allowed six runs in 3 2/3 innings in a no-decision as the Rockies were defeated by the Cubs on Monday.

All six runs came across in the fourth inning on two walks, four singles, and a double. They accounted for all seven base runners De La Rosa allowed while striking out two. He started to pitch better in late June through mid-July, but has allowed six runs in back-to-back outings. He has a 5.03 ERA on the year with a 1.43 WHIP and an 88/46 K/BB ratio over 90 1/3 innings. De La Rosa has a tough matchup ahead of him, as he'll face the Cardinals in St. Louis over the weekend.

John Axford blew the save in Monday's loss to the Cubs, serving up a walk-off two-run home run to Kris Bryant with two outs in the ninth inning.

The Rockies had stormed for four runs against Rafael Soriano to take an 8-7 lead, but Axford couldn't hold it. He allowed a one-out single to Dexter Fowler, then Bryant hit a walk-off two-run home run to left-center with two outs. It's his fourth blown save of the season and his third in his last four appearances. He has allowed runs in each of those four outings. Axford is 16-for-20 in save chances overall with a 3.90 ERA and a 29/16 K/BB ratio in 30 innings.
Jul 27 - 11:48 PM

Ivan Nova was pulled after only five innings Monday because he was dealing with "arm fatigue," according to Yankees manager Joe Girardi.

It doesn't appear at this point that it might affect Nova's next scheduled start, but it's something worth noting nonetheless. Nova holds a 3.38 ERA over six starts since returning from Tommy John surgery, although he's struck out only 18 over 34 2/3 innings.
Jul 27 - 11:47 PM

Kris Bryant delivered a walk-off two-run home run with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning to help the Cubs overtake the Rockies on Monday.

Rafael Soriano blew the save in the top half of the ninth inning, allowing four runs to put the Cubs down 8-7. Kris Bryant picked up his teammate, victimizing Rockies closer John Axford for a two-run bomb to left-center. He hit an RBI single as part of a six-run fourth inning as well. The rookie has done well thus far, batting .254/.358/.453 with 14 home runs and 59 RBI.
