Padres manager Bud Black said he'd like Cameron Maybin (wrist) to get around 30 rehab at-bats.

Maybin hit in the cage and on the field before Monday's game and will do the same thing on Tuesday and Wednesday. Assuming it goes well, he'll begin a rehab assignment on Friday. Maybin could return before the end of the month.

James Darnell could need another surgery on his left shoulder after injuring it at Triple-A Tucson on May 14.

Darnell was hurt following a swing and was in San Diego last week to consult with team doctors. The 26-year-old has already had two operations on the shoulder -- one in 2011 and again in 2012 -- so this is obviously not a good development. Even if a decision is made against surgery, he'll be sidelined for a while.

Julio Teheran allowed one run over 8 1/3 innings in the Braves' 5-1 victory over the Twins on Monday.

Teheran had a shutout going until Josh Willingham spoiled it by homering with one out in the ninth. It was the first time in 12 major league starts that he pitched beyond seven innings. He's allowed just nine runs over 33 2/3 innings in his last five starts, and the Braves are now 7-1 in his outings this season.

Cory Gearrin got a one-out save in a four-run game against the Twins on Monday.

Gearrin came in with the tying run on deck and two outs and got Oswaldo Arcia to foul out to left. Gearrin has allowed just two runs in 20 innings this season. He's going to be pitching with the lead or in tie games a lot more going forward with Jonny Venters and Eric O'Flaherty down.

Kevin Correia surrendered five runs in four innings Monday in a loss to the Braves.

At least he'll always have April; Correia has seen his ERA jump from 2.23 to 3.90 while giving up 15 runs in 22 1/3 innings during May. He shouldn't have any fantasy value over the remainder of the season.
May 20 - 10:23 PM

Brian Dozier went 0-for-4 as the Twins' leadoff man on Monday, dropping his average to .205.

Dozier started off well after replacing Aaron Hicks in the leadoff spot, but now he's hitting .154 with two walks in 52 at-bats this month. The Twins should consider sending him down, but none of their minor league options are better bets.
May 20 - 10:20 PM

Salvador Perez left Monday's game with a right hip injury.

Perez suffered the injury when he bumped into post at the Astros' dugout while chasing a foul popup. There's no word on the severity of the ailment, but the Royals should provide an update after the game. George Kottaras took Perez's spot behind the plate.

Alex Sanabia scattered seven hits while holding the Phillies to one run in 6 1/3 innings in a victory on Monday.

Sanabia snapped a five-start losing streak, winning for the first time since April 16. With his 1.69 WHIP and 28/24 K/BB ratio in 51 1/3 innings, he wouldn't be much of a fantasy option even if he pitched for a good team.
