Albert Pujols went 2-for-3 with a walk and a two-run home run in Tuesday's win over the Mariners.

Pujols gave the Angels an early 2-0 lead when he drove a James Paxton offering to left-center in the first inning. It's the 525th homer of Pujols' career. He's 18th on the all-time home run leaderboard, nine shy of tying Jimmie Foxx at 534. The first baseman is batting .239/.314/.435 with five home runs and 12 RBI on the season.

Carlos Perez made his major league debut on Tuesday, going 2-for-4 with a walk-off solo home run to help the Angels outlast the Mariners.

Perez became the first player to hit a walk-off home run in his major league debut since Miguel Cabrera accomplished the feat for the Marlins on June 20, 2003. Perez had been tearing it up at Triple-A Salt Lake prior to his promotion on Monday, batting .361/.418/.556. With the Angels really hurting for production out of the catching position, it wouldn't be shocking to see them ride him while he's hot.

Kyle Hendricks allowed four runs in five innings in a no-decision Tuesday against the Cardinals.

Hendricks was given a three-run lead heading into the bottom of the fifth inning, but the right-hander gave up a double, hit a batter and allowed a Matt Carpenter three-run homer to tie the score. Hendricks gave up six hits and walked two on the night. It's been a frustrating start to the season for Hendricks, who is still looking for his first win. He'll keep searching Sunday against the Brewers.

Tyler Lyons was a mixed bag in a spot start Tuesday, allowing four runs -- three earned -- while striking out seven over 4 1/3 innings in a no-decision against the Cubs.

Lyons was mostly good until the fifth inning, when the Cubs got to him for three of the four runs against. In all he gave up six hits and walked two, throwing 96 pitches. The Cardinals still have a need for a fifth starter in Adam Wainwright's absence and Lyons showed well enough that he could get another start in five days. That spot, regardless of who makes the start, will come up Sunday at the Pirates.

Brandon Crawford reached base all four times he came to the plate, helping the Giants seal a 6-0 win against the Padres on Tuesday.

Crawford singled twice, doubled, and walked on the evening. He scored after walking in the second, and scored again in the third following an RBI single. Crawford is now batting a highly productive .262/.374/.512 with five home runs and 15 RBI, emerging as one of the Giants' key contributors through the season's first month and change.

Joe Panik went 1-for-4 with a solo home run, helping the Giants emerge victorious over the Padres on Tuesday.

Panik belted a solo home run to right field in the fifth inning off of Andrew Cashner, pushing the Giants' lead to 6-0, the score by which they would eventually win. It's the second long ball of the season for Panik, who has driven in nine runs and is hitting .292/.350/.438. Panik is hitting nearly as well as he did last year in terms of average and has shown more power, which the Giants are certainly happy to see.

Justin Turner finished 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBI in the Dodgers' 8-2 win over the Brewers on Tuesday.

Turner had a couple singles to go along with a three-run homer in the win. The dinger was his fourth of the year, and all four have come in his last six games. Finding playing time has been difficult on a loaded Dodgers club, but Turner has batted .333/.375/.689 in 45 at-bats thus far.
May 6 - 12:45 AM

Andrew Cashner suffered his fifth loss of the season after yielding six runs (four earned) in six innings against the Giants on Tuesday.

Six of the seven hits Cashner allowed were singles, but he walked three and was hurt by a pair of errors in the third inning as well. He struck out three in the outing. Interestingly, the right-hander has allowed 23 runs on the season, but only 13 of them are earned runs. He has a 3.16 ERA, a 1.35 WHIP, and a 39/11 K/BB ratio in 37 innings. Cashner will close out a road series in Arizona against the Diamondbacks next.
