Randal Grichuk went deep for the third consecutive game on Sunday, but it wasn't enough to lead the Cardinals to victory over the Cubs.

Grichuk's two-run blast off of Jose Quintana got the Cardinals on the board in the second inning. He finished the night 2-for-4 and is now slashing .226/.281/.449 with 12 long balls and 35 RBI.

Michael Wacha struggled in Sunday's loss to the Cubs, surrendering five runs on six hits over his six innings of work.

The right-hander punched out six and didn't walk a batter. He had trouble keeping the ball in the yard on Sunday, with Kyle Schwarber blasting a solo homer in the fourth inning and Willson Contreras adding a two-run shot in the sixth. Wacha will carry a 3.93 ERA and 1.31 WHIP into Friday's matchup against the Diamondbacks.

Daniel Norris was removed from Sunday's minor league rehab start at Triple-A Toledo after throwing just 32 pitches after he re-injured his groin.

The plan now is for Norris to return to Detroit on Monday to undergo treatment with the Tigers' medical staff and to determine a new timeline for his recovery. Matt Boyd will remain in the rotation for the foreseeable future.

Matt Carpenter was removed from Sunday's game against the Cubs due to right quadriceps tightness.

The injury appeared to occur while Carpenter was running the bases. The severity of the injury is not yet known. Luke Voit replaced him at first base on Sunday. Look for an update from the Cardinals on Carpenter's status after the conclusion of Sunday's game.

Brian Goodwin went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and a walk in Sunday's win over the Diamondbacks.

Goodwin got the game started in fine fashion for the Nationals, socking a solo home run off Robbie Ray to lead off in the top of the first. The dinger was his ninth of the season. In addition to those nine long balls, the 26-year-old outfielder has been working to a .242/.312/.478 triple-slash and has driven in 23 runs across 178 at-bats. He has notched five extra-base hits in his last six games.

Wilmer Difo went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and two runs scored in Sunday's win over the Diamondbacks.

Difo finished off the game's scoring with his solo home run in the seventh inning. That shot made the score 6-2 and the Nationals would hang on without issue to the end of the game. In 136 at-bats this season, the 25-year-old infielder is hitting an uninspiring .257/.331/.338 with two homers and 11 RBI.

Nationals manager Dusty Baker said Sunday that Stephen Strasburg was lifted from his start after two innings due to the fact that he had trouble getting loose.

The right-hander labored through the first two innings of this one, throwing 51 pitches and issuing three walks. His removal was precautionary and he'll be re-evaluated when the club is back home on Monday, but at the moment it doesn't appear as though he's dealing with a serious injury issue. Be sure to have a contingency plan in place if he isn't able to start this week, but for the time being it doesn't look like Strasburg will be heading to the DL.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said after Sunday's game that Clayton Kershaw would be placed on the 10-day disabled list.

Roberts was quick to point out that he didn't feel this injury was similar to the herniated disc issue that cost Kershaw two months during the 2016 season. It does look like it'll sideline him for a couple of weeks however. No timetable will be placed on his potential return until he meets with team doctors on Monday.
