Nationals placed 1B Matt Adams on the 10-day disabled list with a fractured left index finger.

Adams was struck on the hand while attempting to bunt on Friday, and it took a couple of days for the Nats to discover the small fracture. It's unclear how long he will be sidelined. The left-handed-hitting first baseman boasts a .275/.351/.575 batting line with 13 home runs and 36 RBI in 57 games this season with Washington.

Matt Bowman said Tuesday that he is dealing with Raynaud’s Syndrome, which is affecting the blood flow to his fingers.

So this disabled list stint is about more than just the blisters on his right index and middle fingers. Bowman blew a save in the 10th inning of Monday's loss to the Phillies and has a rough 5.75 ERA in 20 1/3 innings this season. There is no timetable for his return to the Cardinals' bullpen.

Angels sent RHP Oliver Drake outright to Triple-A Salt Lake.

Drake was designated for assignment by the Angels on June 16 and passed through waivers unclaimed. The 31-year-old right-hander had a dreadful 10.13 ERA and 3.38 WHIP in four relief appearances with the Halos.

Royals recalled RHP Heath Fillmyer from Triple-A Omaha.

Fillmyer was sporting a rough 5.75 ERA and 1.63 WHIP in 67 1/3 innings (13 starts) this season at the Triple-A level. The 24-year-old will presumably work in a low-leverage relief role for Kansas City.

Mets recalled RHP Tim Peterson from Triple-A Las Vegas.

Peterson will return to the Mets' bullpen on Tuesday night against the Rockies, after spending just four days in the minors. That means somebody on the 25-man roster is heading to the disabled list -- likely Jay Bruce.

Austin Meadows is dealing with a sore right foot.

Meadows fouled a ball off that foot on Sunday and has been held out of the Pirates' starting lineup in two consecutive games. Corey Dickerson, Starling Marte, and Gregory Polanco make up the Pirates' starting outfield on Tuesday night against the Brewers. Meadows could return to action on Wednesday.

Drew Pomeranz (biceps, neck) played long toss in the outfield on Tuesday.

Pomeranz also then threw some pitches on flat ground. Pomeranz landed on the disabled list June 2 with left biceps tendinitis and had more recently developed some neck stiffness. There is currently no timetable for his return to the Red Sox starting rotation. Steven Wright will continue to hold down his spot.

Cardinals activated RHP Greg Holland from the 10-day disabled list.

Holland allowed four runs on five hits (including two homers) and four walks over five innings during his rehab assignment, though he showed better control in his final three appearances and had a scoreless outing last time out. Still, the Cardinals figure to use him in lower-leverage situations initially. Holland had a horrifying 9.45 ERA and 10/15 K/BB ratio in 13 1/3 innings prior to hitting the disbaled list with a right hip impingement late last month.
