Craig Kimbrel recorded his first win in relief after pitching a perfect ninth in a tie game against the Pirates on Friday.

Kimbrel struck out two of the three batters he faced. He hasn't thrown many perfect innings this year -- this was his first since May 8 -- but three nice outings in a row could be taken as an indication that he's on the right track.

Francisco Liriano tossed six shutout innings and struck out 11 Padres on Friday.

Liriano left with a two-run lead, but that was promptly blown in the seventh. He has just two wins on the year, even through he's allowed one or no runs five times in 10 starts. His fantasy value hasn't matched how well he's pitched.
May 30 - 2:05 AM

Buster Posey drove in three runs with a homer and a double as the Giants topped the Braves 4-2 on Friday.

Following a quiet April, Posey has hit .333 with five homers, 17 RBI and 17 runs scored in May. He's also on pace to walk more than he's struck out for the first time in his career (17/20 K/BB).
May 30 - 2:02 AM

Tim Hudson pitched seven strong innings, allowing just one run, in a win over the Braves on Friday.

It was the first time Hudson faced the Braves since wrapping up his nine-year stint in Atlanta in 2013 (he did pitch against them once while with the A's). He's struggled to string together consecutive quality starts this season, but he still looks pretty good when he's on. His days as a mixed-league starter seem over, but he should provide value in NL-only leagues the rest of the way.
May 30 - 2:00 AM

Mike Foltynewicz surrendered two runs in 6 2/3 innings and struck out eight versus the Giants on Friday.

Folty has turned in two really nice starts in a row, and he's walked a total of three batters in his last three outings after issuing 10 free passes in his first three. We wouldn't count on the walk rate staying so low, but if it does, he could quickly become a force to be reckoned with. Most likely, more inconsistency is on the way.
May 30 - 1:56 AM

Taijuan Walker allowed just two hits over eight scoreless innings Friday in defeat the Indians.

We give up. Walker is simply inscrutable. He struck out eight and walked none in this one after entering the day with a 39/23 K/BB ratio in 43 innings. The win was just his second to go along with five losses, and even after the gem, his ERA stands at 6.18. The talent is certainly there to produce more outings like this, but who knows what might materialize next?
May 30 - 1:53 AM

Fernando Rodney recorded his 14th save despite giving up a run in the ninth Friday against the Indians.

Rodney surrendered an RBI triple to Ryan Raburn before getting Michael Brantley to fly out to end the game. Just nine of his 21 pitches were strikes. Lloyd McClendon has been stubbornly patient with him, but this can't be allowed to go on for more longer. Rodney has allowed runs in seven of 10 appearances this month.
May 30 - 1:50 AM

Trevor Bauer allowed two runs over seven innings and struck out 10 against the Mariners on Friday.

Bauer has pitched at least seven innings in four starts starts, giving up five runs over 29 1/3 innings during that span. He did take the loss tonight, but his ERA is down to 2.97.
