The Yankees will examine Carlos Beltran (rib cage) prior to Wednesday's game before determining whether he needs a stint on the disabled list.
The Yanks will promote outfielder Taylor Dugas on Wednesday as protection for Beltran, but they could send down a reliever if they think Beltran will be ready in a few days. For what it's worth, Beltran felt after suffering a rib cage injury Tuesday that he wouldn't need a trip to the DL.
Troy Tulowitzki is not in the Rockies' lineup Wednesday.
It appears to simply be a day of rest. Daniel Descalso is at shortstop with Tulo out.
ESPN's Jerry Crasnick reports that Angels assistant general manager Matt Klentak is expected to be promoted to general manager.
That's assuming Jerry Dipoto leaves, which is expected even though FOX Sports' Jon Morosi has reported that owner Arte Moreno and president John Carpino are making a last-ditch effort to keep him. A resolution is expected later Wednesday.
White Sox optioned RHP Junior Guerra to Triple-A Charlotte.
Guerra surrendered three runs over four relief innings during his time with the big club. He'll return to a 3.00 ERA at Charlotte.
White Sox activated LHP Dan Jennings from the 15-day disabled list.
Jennings missed nearly a month with a neck injury. He holds a disappointing 7.83 ERA over 22 appearances this season for the White Sox.
FOX Sports' Jon Morosi reports that Angels owner Arte Moreno and president John Carpino are "still trying to broker a peace" between general manager Jerry Dipoto and manager Mike Scioscia.
Various earlier reports said the Dipoto was definitely leaving, but Morosi is hearing it's not a done deal yet. It's hard to imagine Dipoto and Scioscia repairing their fractured relationship at this point, but we'll see. The situation should be resolved later Wednesday.
Michael Saunders (knee) will be re-evaluated at the end of July.
An MRI taken last week of Saunders' left knee showed significant healing, but clearly he's still a long ways away from a return. The Blue Jays will hope to get him back at some point during the second half.
Blue Jays activated INF Steve Tolleson from the 15-day disabled list; designated him for assignment.
Tolleson had been out since late May with a strained groin. He seems likely to clear waivers and remain in the organization.
