Andre Ethier is back in Friday's lineup against the Cardinals.

Ethier was benched Wednesday amid comments from Dodgers manager Don Mattingly that he was looking for the "most competitive lineup" and one that would "fight the hardest." Apparently Either is one of those guys Friday.

Alfonso Soriano is not in Friday's lineup against the Reds.

He's just getting a breather. Ryan Sweeney will make the start in left field.

Steve Johnson has been scratched from Friday's start with Triple-A Norfolk.

Johnson is healthy, but the Orioles want him available in case they need to add him as a reliever on Saturday. The 25-year-old gave up six runs in four innings in a spot start with the big club earlier this month.

Astros prospect first baseman Jonathan Singleton will join Class A Quad Cities on Monday.

Singleton has served his 50-game suspension for a positive marijuana test and is ready to return to game action. The 21-year-old is one of the top first base prospects in the game and could be on the fast track to the majors before long.

Taylor Teagarden (thumb) is scheduled to play in a game Monday in Sarasota, Florida.

It will presumably be an extended spring training game. The Orioles will likely send him out on a brief rehab assignment from there, but he appears on track to return from the disabled list early next month. The 29-year-old backstop has been sidelined since April 27 with a dislocated left thumb.
May 24 - 5:58 PM

Chris Narveson (finger) will be stretched out as a starter when he begins a rehab assignment next week.

The Brewers were using Narveson in relief before he suffered a sprained middle finger in early April, but injuries could provide him with an opportunity in the starting rotation. It's not clear how many starts he'll make in the minors before being activated.
May 24 - 5:54 PM

Alfredo Figaro is expected to start next Tuesday against the Twins.

He'll make the start in place of Hiram Burgos, who was placed on the disabled list Friday with a right shoulder impingement. Things could change if Figaro is needed out of the bullpen this weekend.
May 24 - 5:45 PM

Rickie Weeks is not in Friday's lineup against the Pirates.

Another day off for the struggling second baseman. Jeff Bianchi is drawing another start.
