Pirates claimed RHP Angel Sanchez off waivers from the White Sox.

Chicago claimed Sanchez off waivers in early July from the Rays, who claimed him off waivers in early June from the Marlins. The 24-year-old is far from a prospect.

Diamondbacks acquired LHP Anthony Banda and OF Mitch Haniger from the Brewers for OF Gerardo Parra.

Arizona has always liked Banda, having selected him in the 33rd round of the 2011 MLB Amateur Draft out of high school. The left-hander went to a JUCO for a year and was taken in the 10th round by the Brewers the next year. Banda struggled in his first two pro seasons, but has taken a step forward with a 6-6 record and 3.66 ERA across 83-plus innings at Low-A Wisconsin this season.

Diamondbacks acquired OF Mitch Haniger and LHP Anthony Banda from the Brewers for OF Gerardo Parra.

Haniger is the prize of the return package. The No. 38 overall pick in the 2012 draft slashed an uninspiring .255/.316/.416 across 271 plate appearances for Double-A Huntsville. If he can pick up his developmental pace, a mid-season debut in 2015 isn't out of the question.

ESPN Boston's Gordon Edes reports that the Tigers are not getting left-hander Andrew Miller.

Detroit was said to be close to a deal for the reliever, but those talks have apparently fallen flat. Miller, who owns a 2.34 ERA and 69/13 K/BB ratio in 42 1/3 innings this year, is drawing interest from a range of teams. He should be traded somewhere by the deadline.

Brewers acquired OF Gerardo Parra from the Diamondbacks for OF Mitch Haniger and LHP Anthony Banda.

When he's in the lineup, Parra will team with Carlos Gomez and Ryan Braun to give Milwaukee one of the majors' best defensive outfield alignments. Of course, this isn't great news for Khris Davis, or Parra himself, as the pair will now share at-bats. Parra is slashing only .259/.305/.362.

Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports that the Mariners have landed Chris Denorfia from the Padres.

Seattle was probably hoping to land a bigger bat than what Denorfia can provide, but it's a weak trade market for such a desire. Denorfia can play all three outfield positions and will likely be moved frequently around by the M's. He was hitting .242/.293/.319 with San Diego. Abraham Almonte is headed to the Padres in return along with minor league pitcher Stephen Kohlscheen.
Jul 31 - 2:17 PM

Oscar Taveras is starting in right field for the Cardinals on Thursday against the Padres.

St. Louis dealt Allen Craig to Boston on Thursday afternoon (along with right-hander) Joe Kelly for John Lackey, so the right field job now belongs to Taveras. With a clearer path to playing time, the talented 21-year-old is worth owning in all mixed fantasy leagues.
Jul 31 - 2:09 PM

Yankees claimed RHP Esmil Rogers off waivers from the Blue Jays.

Rogers was designated for assignment by Toronto on July 27. The 28-year-old right-hander owns an ugly 5.59 ERA and 1.58 WHIP in 396 career major league innings.
