David Price racked up seven strikeouts over seven strong innings in Saturday's victory over the Blue Jays.

The All-Star southpaw allowed just one run on eight hits and a walk over his seven frames. The only blemish against him on the afternoon was a solo homer off the bat of Kevin Pillar in the fifth inning. The clear ace of the Tigers staff, and pending free agent, has been terrific again this season, registering a 2.54 ERA and 107/22 K/BB ratio through 117 innings. He'll look to continue that dominance when he takes on the Twins in Minnesota on Thursday.
Jul 4 - 4:33 PM

Chris Colabello went 2-for-4 and blasted his seventh home run of the season in a losing effort against the Tigers on Saturday.

Colabello continues to hammer the baseball, slashing an outstanding .335/.374/.505 with seven long balls and 31 RBI. He continues to be worth utilizing in mixed leagues until he cools off.

R.A. Dickey struggled in Saturday's loss to the Tigers, matching a career high with 11 hits allowed while surrendering five runs in his 5 2/3 innings.

Dickey also walked a pair and struck out one in the ballgame. Nearly all of the damage came in the first inning, where the Tigers struck for four runs including a two-run blast by J.D. Martinez. Dickey simply hasn't been good this season, registering a 5.02 ERA, 4.86 xFIP and 64/42 K/BB ratio across 107 2/3 innings. He'll take on the White Sox in Chicago his next time out on Thursday.

Cubs recalled C Taylor Teagarden from Triple-A Iowa.

The Cubs need catching depth with David Ross (concussion) on the 7-day disabled list. Teagarden has done a nice job in Triple-A this year, batting .294 with 19 RBI in 43 games for the I-Cubs. He'll backup Miguel Montero behind the plate.
Jul 4 - 4:24 PM

Cubs placed C David Ross on the 7-day concussion disabled list.

The move was made retroactive to July 2. Ross took a foul ball off his mask Wednesday against the Mets. Taylor Teagarden was called up to take his roster spot.

Chris Bassitt will start Sunday against the Mariners.

He's filling in for Sonny Gray, who had his start pushed back to Tuesday because of an illness. Bassitt pitched well in Tuesday's loss to Colorado, scattering one run and five hits over five innings. He's likely headed back to Triple-A after his next start.

Dellin Betances blew a save Saturday against the Rays, but the Yankees eventually walked off with a 3-2 victory.

Asked to get a four-out save, Betances retired Evan Longoria to end the top of the eighth inning, but he allowed a single to James Loney to begin the ninth before Steven Souza took him deep for a game-tying two-run homer. It was his first home run allowed since last August 13. The Yankees went on to win 3-2 in the bottom of the ninth after Brad Boxberger couldn't handle a sacrifice bunt, so Betances actually ended up with the victory. This was his second blown save in nine chances this season.
Jul 4 - 4:07 PM

Michael Pineda held the Rays scoreless over seven-plus innings and struck out 10 batters in a no-decision Saturday.

Pineda was excellent, allowing just five hits and one walk. He retired 12 batters in a row and 18 out of 19 before Curt Casali ended his day with a double in the top of the eighth. He was in line for the win before Dellin Betances blew the save in the ninth. After being knocked around by the Phillies on June 22, Pineda has rebounded with back-to-back strong starts. He'll bring a 3.79 ERA into a start against the Red Sox in Boston next week.
