Josh Rutledge was scratched from Monday's lineup due to illness.

He should be ready to go in a day or two. Rutledge has hit .375/.375/.656 with one homer and nine RBI over seven games since taking over shortstop for the injured Troy Tulowitzki (hip).

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Red Sox are open to trading both John Lackey and Jon Lester for the right returns.

It had been clear that they were listening on Lester, but it appears they'd consider dealing Lackey, as well. While Lester is set to hit free agency after the season, the Red Sox have a $500,000 club option on Lackey for 2015 that's as a result of his 2012 Tommy John surgery. That obviously makes his value much higher. Lackey is also pitching very well for the second straight season, posting a 3.60 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 116/32 K/BB ratio over 137 1/3 innings.

Bartolo Colon scattered 10 hits while holding the Phillies to one run in 7 2/3 innings in Monday's win.

Colon hasn't been nearly as effective as he was last year, but he's lasted at least seven innings in 14 of 21 starts this year and allowed three runs or fewer 15 times. The Mets could cash him in if someone makes a nice offer this week, but since he still looks like he'll be an asset in 2015, their under no pressure to make a deal.

A.J. Burnett was tagged for seven runs in five innings by the Mets in Monday's loss.

It's the sixth time this year that Burnett has allowed at least six runs, most in the majors (Clay Buchholz and Kyle Gibson have done it five times apiece). As many awful outings as he's had, it's sort of impressive that his ERA is still a respectable 4.15. Still, there won't be much demand for his services in trade talks this week.

Travis d'Arnaud hit a three-run homer and doubled twice Monday against the Phillies.

D'Arnaud is hitting .302 with four homers and 16 RBI in 96 at-bats since being recalled from the minors on June 24. He's still an injury risk going forward, but he's coming along quite nicely.

Carlos Ruiz went 4-for-4 and doubled in the Phillies' lone run in Friday's loss to the Mets.

The Phillies had both Ruiz and Marlon Byrd finish with four hits, yet they lost 7-1. They were the first team since 2011 to have 13 hits in a nine-inning game and score just one run in the process.
Jul 28 - 10:25 PM

Marlon Byrd singled four times in five at-bats Monday versus the Mets.

Byrd has multiple hits in six of his last 10 games, pushing his average back up to .274. His average had been dipping since the beginning of June, but it was coming with more homers (13 last two months, seven first two), so there was little reason for his owners to complain.

An X-ray on Dana Eveland's left elbow came back clean.

Eveland was hit on the pitching elbow by a comebacker Monday. While he escaped serious injury, it wouldn't be a surprise if he was unavailable for a few days.
